YOUR mattress....

  1. What kind of mattress do you have? How long have you had it? Do you like it? How does your back feel?

I've had back and neck pain ever since I was in a severe auto accident in 95. My mattress sucks. I actually broke down and ordered a sleep by number mattress yesterday... the kind with separate air compartments for each side of the bed, and you can set it to whatever degree of softness or firmness you want.

Yes, I spent $1100 on a mattress. (But it comes with a FOUNDATION, you know...)

I really don't know what kind of mattress I have.

"Sturdy" is the only word that comes to mind.

We had the crappiest mattress ever. The thing sunk in the middle and it squeaked horribly from a bad spring. About 3 years ago, we blew our load (heee...Heather! get it?) on a double pillow top mattress from Beauty Rest. It was about $1200 at the time. And I have a huge comfy down comforter. Our bed is just so damn comfortable now.

If you buy one, look for the "anti-squeak" features. Also roll around on it a lot in the store to make sure it's not going to cause the headboard to bash against the wall....

Seriously, Jim and I were having major back problems and bought a Stearns & Foster mattress/spring. We paid well over $1100 for it, but it's the best investment we've ever made.

When you get your big job....you can splurge!

Perhaps that's why you're always sleeping in it?

I think so. Seriously. We always end up falling asleep on each other and drooling.

Honestly, I can't wait for that.

Our mattress just sucks. Its fine, and sturdy, and doesn't squeak, so its good for extracurricular activities... but sleep? Forget about it.

How many pillows do you sleep on? If you use more than one, or if the one you *do* use is too...fluffy...that can cause neck and back pain. We have a pillowtop set from Sam's Club. Woohoo, discount shopping!!! I don't think we paid more than $800 for the set, we've had it for almost three years, and it sleeps like a cloud. I believe it's BeautyRest, but I can't check because if I go in there I will wake Lucif- I mean, the hubster. ;>P

YEP this is what we have, too. Worth EVERY penny and saves my husband's back, which was the main reason for buying it. His legs were going numb in our old cheapie...I will never again spare the $$$ when it comes to buying a mattress and boxspring.

We bought ours from a factory outlet, no brand name on it, but it is a rather firm mattress, with pillowtop on both sides. It has held up for about eight or nine years, and he weighs, seriously 430 lbs. And I am not a lightweight at a size 16/18. It is the only bed we have had that has held up.
Go shopping, lie down on the beds and waller on them. Find what feels good and pay your money. It is worth it.

Ancient. Been thinking about a whole new set for our anniversary. That would be appropriate, doncha think? Has anybody ever tried those thermopedic type things I see advertised?

Waller! I love that word! Waller Waller Waller Waller!

Anyhoo, my mattress is ancient. It's about 4 inches tall, has no support, and is just McNasty. And when I WALLER on it, it squeaks.

What's really bad is that my bed is on wheels on a wood floor. Need I say more?
