Your First Concert

  1. Took my sons to see their first concert last night, "Reel Big Fish". It made me think about my first concert, I saw "KISS." What was the first concert you ever went to?

when i saw this post i automatically smiled.....it was a dual concert with fleetwood mac and the eagles. man, to this day i remember the eagles singing 'take it to the limit' and i was frantically trying to find a place to stand when this drop-dead gorgeous man (?17-18) extended his hand from a bleacher to help me up. it was an outdoor concert in a football stadium and almost 30 years later i still remember the black, black sky with bright twinkling stars. phew.....

I'm a tad embarrassed by this one...it was the Monkees. Circa 1987 or so. Followed closely by Peter Gabriel on his "So" tour (not embarrassed about that one).

    Talk about dating yourself!!!
I went to this show call "Caravan Of Stars" in a downtown theater.
All the bands involved came on and played like one song each , but it was pretty cool, The Animals, Dave CLark Five, Peter and Gordon, Herman's Hermits, and such as that (told ya!)
This first REAL concert, a few years later, Three Dog Night

I believe it was, are you ready for this... Air Supply... My family was on vacation at Six Flags over Texas, and my sister REALLY wanted to stay until late that night to go. I guess that admission to the concert was included with our gate ticket price, I don't know. Anyway, I was only 12 at the time, and she was 15. The concert was outside at the end of a blocked off parking lot that seemed huge at the time. I remember how we were trying to stand on the cement bases of the light poles in order to see anything. I think the biggest thing I remember about that concert is my dad lying down on the asphalt and actually trying to go to sleep through the whole thing!

Since you didn't say otherwise, guess the tape machine was in working order that night.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Some of those tunes were good... e.g., "Girl, You Know It's True."

    Sounds great to me!

Loved that early British Invasion stuff.

Think my first concert at the Fillmore East showcased "Jethro Tull" and "Blood, Sweat and Tears."

    That place had great acoustics.

Well, since my dad was a Deadhead I was at Grateful Dead shows when I was tiny...

but the first concert I went to see was Madonna...that was when I was five I think...
