Your fantasy vacation?

  1. Since we all work hard in a tough field, what's your fantasy vacation?

I want to go on an extended Carribbean cruise with a balcony suite, a butler, unlimited ship-board credit and a stack of fabulous books! Oh, and my husband and kids.

ANY fantasy??? Hmm...well, that would require my marriage not existing...KIDDING!! I would like to go somewhere tropical...warm...crystal clear blue water. Sugar white sand, fabulous (but small!) little house right on the beach, hammock in the palms. Somewhere isolated so there wouldn't be a lot of other folks around, but enough people around to wait on me, cook, clean, GIVE MASSAGES, and take me out on sunset boat rides with my honey. Tropical birds and butteflies everywhere, but NO SHARKS or other people-eating critters. Luxury bathroom, ceiling fan above the bed, gauze-y drapes over the bed to create an etheral appearance. 440 thread count MINIMUM sheets, godiva chocolate on the pillow at night, sleeping in until noon. Falling to sleep every night to the sight of a beautiful moonlit cove, with only the sounds of birds and crickets...NO PEOPLE, NO LOUD MUSIC, NO PARTIES. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Mine would be renting a car and just driving to nowhere........touring the countryside without a real destination or plan.

Then, and take the Orient Express and tour Europe.

At least 2 full weeks of any of the following:

    1. Venice in spring or fall
    2. Raratonga or Bora Bora
    3. Easter Island

---with my best friend for fun and conversation, and gorgeous local men to give us massages, show us around, hand-feed us chocolate-dipped fruit, dance with us, and fetch us drinks. Hotel overlooking the beach or Grand Canal, of course.

    Hi All,

Just discovered this forum and liked this topic. I'm an RN re-entering the nursing profession after 7 years as a "stay-at-home mom." For the last year I've been living a longtime fantasy of living in the Caribbean. It's every bit as beautiful as I dreamed but IT'S DEFINITELY NOT typical suburbia. I highly recommend a vacation spent at the Westin Casuarina Resort Hotel on Seven Mile Beach in George Town, Grand Cayman. Just be sure you're prepared with a few thousand US dollars. Paradise doesn't come cheap. For cheap, Mexico is a pretty good deal. The best time to visit the Caribbean is late winter or early Spring. ENJOY!!!!

I had a vacation turn into fantasy sort of.... My fiancee an I like to be spontaneous and "just go" wherever. So we decided on a little unknown place in Mexico call El Golfo del Santa Clara. So its Thanksgiving, were driving our brains out, finally get to Mexico and its getting dark, we're starting to crab at each other, because the only thing we've had to eat is candy bars and beef jerky..some Thanksgiving. Well we drove until the pavement ran out, made a right turn into some cantina, walked in on a bunch of Americans having a private tradition Thanksgiving dinner. They were so cool and insisted that we join them! We spent the rest of the night talking with this fun bunch around a camp fire with a billion stars all around. We stayed in a trailer that someone never showed up for...it was this or sleep in the back of our truck. The next day all of us got together and went 4 wheeling on a totally deserted beach for at least 30 miles. collected a jillion shells, had shots of tequila at sunset at an abandoned lighthouse. We will do this next Thanksgiving!

I want to car tour the whole UK and stay at B&B's. I love museums, architecture and history. I also loved what I've already seen of it on a 3 week stay with a friend and his family, in Wales. What a gorgeous place. I especially liked hanging out with the natives there and doing non-touristy stuff.

A friend just got back from a tour and she looked positively blissful. She was in love, especially with Scotland..

I'm not really interested in seeing the far east...only because it's lower on my priority list. I also don't like smoking and they smoke like fiends. No...I HATE smoke....gross. I can't eat if I'm around smoke. Never could my whole life.

This Sept. am going to Seattle, Victoria BC and then an Alaskan cruise. All by my self. I can't wait.

A few weeks in NYC, a suite at the Plaza, spending money, a subway pass, and all the pizza I can eat!

shel wny "bombing around Europe" probably isn't the best way to spend your vacation nowadays.

I would spend my fantasy vacation on a beach somewhere where there were no expectations of me.

You guys are killing me... My ideal vacation would be backpacking around somewhere I have never been... maybe India or Turkey or Ghana or something.

I miss my Lonely Planet tv episodes now that I have no cable.

I want to go to someplace tropical for about a month, preferably in the dead of winter, where I can lie on the beach and work on my tan while the warm tradewinds blow over me and a tall, dark, handsome beach boy waits on me hand and foot........I'd like to rent a house right on the beach with a jacuzzi and private pool......I want to go parasailing and Jet-Skiing by day, and dance to salsa and Spanish guitar music by night, then make love in the pool before tumbling into a huge, soft, feather bed and letting the sounds of the ocean lull me to sleep.

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................. ....
