You know what I just love....

  1. When I'm relaxing, watching tv, the heat from the wood stove is warming up my room, I'm all dressed in my jammies, and I hear the tv say: "no school tomorrow? watch TV 5 at 5:30 to find out!"

hehehe, I REALLY hope we don't have school...

thought I was getting all emotional huh??? :chuckle

Most days we had to get up in the morning to find out, but there were a few days that it would be on the news before we even went to bed. Those days rocked!

But anyday off school was a good day! I loved those days too!

Nowadays in Indiana, they have to make up the missed days. When I was in school, we never had to make up loss days. The Blizzard of '78 about wiped us out in Southern Indiana. We missed like 3 weeks of school that January!! The kids who lived in the country weren't able to get in to school due to the high drifts.... That was an awesome time.....

Well, Kristi if you DO have the day off, make the best of it!!! Enjoy!!

    What a perfect childhood memory!

I remember we'd wait 'til the last possible minute to get ready, no doubt thinking that actually being prepared to go would jinx our chances of Mother Nature letting us play hooky for one day lol.

There was no greater rush than seeing your school district flash across the TV screen...

Darn It! I want a snow day! All we have had here for the past 2 weeks is rain! It has been raining here since after midnight Friday!

    Enjoy the day off!

    Oh yes!
It was always a good feeling, almost like Christmas, getting up on a cold morning seeing the snow blowing outside of the steamed up windows... having a hot cup of coffee to warm you while standing by the fire as the radio played and you just waited for them to announce No School and to name your school as one of them that was closed!
    I loved snow days!

Well, looks like I have school. Mom says to ride the bus, ummmmmm how about no? The only way I am going to become a successful driver in the winter time is if I actually DRIVE in the winter time. I make the payments on MY car, it's my life, If God says I'm gonna die, then I'm gonna die no matter where I am. I'll drive slow, VERY slow. I did good yesterday, today just has more slushy type stuff on the road. OH well, I'm driving. Plus, I have to go to the lawyers office for a job............so she can kiss my hiney......

I am from Florida and it only happened once

January 19 1977 - the first time I ever saw snow and it was barely a dusting LOL Most of the schools didn't have heat so they cancelled

A day I will never forget...

Loved it when I was a kid. It was so nice to be able to stay bundled up in bed that extra time, then spend the day doing nothing special. Then when I had my own kids, I enjoyed having them home for an unexpected day now and then, but not too often. I got tired of hearing "I'm bored" I get that same feeling now on those rare occasions when I have a day off during the week, and everyone else is gone for the day. I really love days like that when I can enjoy my solitude and do whatever I want.

Honey, I'm sure you're a great driver and your reflexes are excellent. But then there are people out there who have no snow tires and who will smash right into your car when you least expect it.

I remember seeing many beautiful new cars completely totalled one year because of a sudden ice storm. I stayed home that day, and saved my car, and possibly my life.

Pro drivers have the scoop==Never drive in bad weather if you can help it. Never. It's just not worth it.

k, i'll git offa the soap box now :imbar

I loved snow days when I was younger and I find I like them when the kids are off now! Get to do more stuff with them.
