Congratulations! What kind of Dell did you get?

My Christmas present to myself was Earthlink DSL. It'll be another 2 - 3 weeks before it's connected, but I can't wait to be free of dial-up MSN!

Oh, and today my admin offered to sell me his seldom-used scanner for $20. Woo!

It`s a 2350, and I got a flat screen monitor, and it`s sooo cool, after my poor old PB ....

Cable is GREAT! Just make sure you have a good antivirus installed... I use nortons. What does everyone else use? Maybe someone knows a better one?

My parents' computer's hard drive was completely destroyed by a virus that easily slipped past whatever they were using at the time--either Norton or MacAfee. One of my brothers recommended Panda to them and they haven't had any problems with their new computer (yes, they had to buy a completely new hard drive).

I'm using MacAfee right now, which seems fine for dial-up. Apparently the Earthlink DSL comes with its own firewall--I don't know what kind.

Anyway, my understanding of the quality/level of effectiveness of the antiviral programs is, top to bottom, 1)Panda; 2)MacAfee; 3) Norton.
