Wowwwwwwwwwww !!!!

  1. WOW !!!

    Can't believe my EYES !!!

Just came back to my bedroom from the kitchen, and happened to glance out the window... and what did my wondering eyes behold? About 26 WILD TURKEYS all just wandering around out there in the field ... HUGE ones! ..and about 10 babies, or at least quite young ones yet.

This is amazing ! I've seen a few here and there in the surrounding woods outside of town, etc. but never so MANY at one time.. and NEVER right outside my bedroom window, right out in the open on a residential street !!!

    This is soooooooo kool !!!!

I used to live in the country and we always had deer everywhere - you would see them in broad daylite even - Counted 26 one evening!

My wife called them the "yard deer" and we loved watching them even after they started eating the flowers out of her flower bed lol

Watching nature is great isn't it?

    Did you take pics?

Jnette . . I want to get outside so badly. Been cooped up in this hospital since 2:30 a.m. Had a goodbye cake for our ward clerk who is going back to school - so ate too much junk.

I want to go for a walk with my toddler. Smell the rain-freshened air. Only an hour to go.

Have plenty of deer here as well, but they don't come out 'til dusk and I have to be VERY careful driving into work at 0345...have had soooooooo many close calls.. they are EVERYWHERE !!!
Yes, I love watching nature and all it's lovely creatures. The turkeys are still there.. acting as if they just belong there ! They must have heard there's a surplus of grasshoppers in that field or something ! Heh...

Steph, it won't be long now.. hang in there ! Get home, grab that baby and do a little hand-in-hand outdoors in the fresh air with him... enjoy a nice evening walk together ! (and walk off that CAKE !!!) Bad Girl. uh... I must confess what I went to the kitchen for in the first place.. a chocolate coated popsicle !

A friend has a scrub or Brush turkey in her backyard and there are a few starting to move into and around parts of Bribane.

    Strange looking critters aren't they?

They build BIG mounds to incubate thier eggs and so are very unpopular as companion gardeners!!!

I have been living in the "cornfields" for about ten years now and seeing non-domestic animals still psych's me out... that is a whole load of turkeys...only saw one in my area walking in my driveway, had my cat's attention but the dog just dismissed it.

Had to stop my car one afternoon because three turkey buzzards were walking...that's right walking across the road before perching on the fence to watch the horses in the field.

Have an owl in my back yard...not too bright though... for the last ten years, I come home from work at the same time at night and every night the bird still asks "Hoo?"

Never seen wild turkeys, but alot of Pheasants when we lived in the country. They were good eating. My buddy raised some last year and the kids watched us butcher one. They said it was mean, but didn't stop them from watching.I don't know how it works other places, but if you hit a deer in Calif. you have to call the rangers and they take it away.We hit one one time with my buddy's Mustang and insted of giving it to the Rangers gave it to a friend in Need.

We see about a dozen peacocks that roam yard to yard. An old lady who passed away about 10 years ago had them in her yard. The stayed in the tree branches. They have a raucous call and go anywhere they want to. We're about 1 1/2 miles away from their original home and they're extending their range. Over the years I guess we've seen 100 or so.

Peacocks are SO messy!!. We have had 4-5 turkey hens coming in the yard for the past month or so. Have seen no babies so something must have ate them. Is pretty common in Kansas to see huge flocks of turkey, especially in the fall. (I'm talking 100 or so). Is a rehab success story as just a few years ago you rarely saw them.

I think I work in Deer, USA. When I drive to work at 11pm, I don't watch the road, I have to watch the sides of the road because there are just soooo many all over the place. At my facility, they think they own it! One night I got out of my car in the parking lot to see a deer standing next to the car that was parked next to me. The next thing I know she's walking right with me up to the front door, I couldn't believe it! The residents have the deer trained so that they aren't afraid of people. They'll eat right out of your hand if you have something for them. The groundhogs eat a feast every morning from scrambled eggs to french toast and they're fatter than piggies to the point where they can hardly walk! I think eventually they eat themselves to death.

I was sitting outside at work one evening eating my Burger King dinner when I felt something at my knee, I looked down and there was the biggest, bucktoothed groundhog I'd ever seen begging for fast food... needless to say the size of his teeth prompted me to give him my fries...didn't know they were so big!

The better to eat you with, my dear. HAHA

Hope everyone remembers that deer can be aggressive. They
are not all Bambi's in disguise!!. We have had deer (usually buck's) attack human's and cause some damage!!
