Would Someone Tell Me Why I Should Consider a Mac Computer instead of a PC?

  1. My old computer croaked. It's outdated anyway, but i'm trying to figure out first if i should consider a Mac or a PC.

Pretty much what i do on a computer is shop, download a few tunes, use a webcam to take pictures, and visit message boards.

So would someone mind explaining to me why you prefer a Mac over a PC, or vice versa?

I would only use a Windows-based PC. More for bias now than anything else.
I have laways had a Window-based system in every computer that I have ever owned, and most hospital facilities also use Windows.

So why try to learn anyhting else?

If you are heavy into graphics design, then maybe I would consider the MAC, but that would be the only reason.

I'd go MAC if I had it to do over again. Bought a new Dell last Fall and it immediately started running slowly - pc users are inundated with spyware and viruses.

MAC users are fewer so the dumbs**t's don't write viruses for MAC's for the most part.

And their ease of use is marvelous.

    Plus, MACs are mroe stable.

Given the choice - I'd go LINUX

Go look at the Macs. I have had an iBook for the last 3 years, and I get frustrated with the Dell pc's at work.

The new Mac mini can be used with your old keyboard and monitor. The iMac doesn't take up much room, it's all built in to the monitor. They are not cheap, but neither is a good pc.

My son has to run his virus scan program at least every week. We run them every month. My hb has Macs, too.

I can't think of one. My friend has the same problems w/her MAC as I do my PC's. I cannot think of a reason why I would spend MORE money to get less. Give me my PCs.

Just because I grew up with PC's with Windows I will stick with it. I can use a Mac but I'm not as savvy with one as I am with Windows.

because MAC users are constantly laughing at me, telling me i should have bought at MAC when i complain about my windows/dell/pc being messed up again. i will be buying MAC next time. plus i have that soft spot for the underdog/anti-monopoly thing, when i think about this issue. i also am considering a hybrid for my next car. but that's another issue for another forum/thread.

This is so true . . . one of my good friends, who owns an advertising company, has a Mac and gives me a hard time. Especially today I'm very frustrated with my computer . . . .. slow and freezes all the time. I ran the anti-virus thing and ad-aware, which found alot of spyware on my compter and I just ran ad-aware a few days ago . . .

The virus makers focus on pc's . . . . I'd gladly pay more. Next time, I'm not listening to my kids. They've grown up with pc's . . . and are stuck in the mud.

Hi mimi by the way . .

So do we not think the virus-mongers will at some point attack MAC computers/programs with equal aplomb, if they become more common? Still not enough reason for me at this point to pay more for less. My virus/ad ware programs do me well and I rarely experience any problems with my 3 pc's.

How the hell do you guys manage with three PCs?

The ONE I have gives me enough trouble to last for weeks!

I have a PC, was custom built for me, at a fairly cheap price (600 bucks, including monitor). So I don't think the more you pay the better you get necessarily. I've never had any problems with it, have had it almost 2 years now. I run virus scans and spybot/adaware regularly, but I've never had any problems as far as viruses, popups, etc. Maybe I'm just lucky? I don't know.
