Workaholic rehab

  1. So, well, in April I had a bit of a mini meltdown, related to the craziness of my taking wayyyyy to much on.

A very excellent allnurses member helped me get on the start of rehabbing myself (this is an often silent member, but who is of so wise). I quit the course that I was taking (and hated, and didn't have enough time to devote study time to). I have since made steps to reduce my hours at work. Started talking to the other nurses about finding ways to deal with the things making us crazy at work TOGETHER so that I could stop spinning my wheels.

This member got me to start by planning to do something each day with the sole purpose of treating myself.

I have gotten better at treating myself. I am presently on a much deserved vacation, and instead of booking myself up with various appointments etc, I am letting myself RELAX. I bought a new bed and I am sleeping so much better, and I am finding the time to tackle problems that I've had on the back burner for so long.

I guess I have a long way to go in rehabbing myself, but I'm glad that I have achieved what I have.

Sounds awesome. After I get finished with this 52 hour work week tomorrow morning I might do the same.

Seriously, we must take care of ourselves. It takes a toll emotionally, spiritually and physically. Kudos to you!

Yes sometimes we have to accept that we can't do it all and especially we cannot do it all at once. Enjoy! Relax and re - rev your engine it will be worth it!!!

Terrific! And thanks to that unnamed member who helped you "see the light." I am a recovering workaholic, so to speak, and each day that magic word "no" gets a little easier to say. Take care of yourself, Adrie - no one else will.
