Woman Killed After Leaping Into Thai Crocodile Pit
Sun Aug 11, 6:00 AM ET

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A Thai woman killed herself by jumping into a pit of more than 100 crocodiles, shocking crowds of onlookers at a Bangkok reptile farm on Sunday.

The woman, 40, climbed a two-meter high fence and jumped into a concrete enclosure at the Famut Prakarn Crocodile Farm on the outskirts of the Thai capital, a tour guide who witnessed the event said.

A crocodile dragged the woman into a pond and several animals swarmed over and tore her body apart.

"She did not cry or scream when she was bitten," Tanet Virayaporn, the tour guide, told Reuters. "It happened so quickly. Nobody could do anything."

Police said the woman had left a suicide note in which she complained about her husband and apologized to family members.

Hundreds of people were visiting the crocodile farm, a popular tourist attraction, when the woman committed suicide.

how sad is this? it is so awful that people think that they have no other alternative.

    Ouch.

I think I would have chosen a different route, but that's not really the point.

    Sad indeed.

Poor woman, she should have pushed her husband in instead.

So true, badbird. I couldn't think any farther than the crocodiles tearing her apart. You have to truly dislike yourself to do that.

I think she needed Giuseppe the self-esteem angel.

Is is okay to say that would not be my preferred route for suicide? Geez. Not that I would have a preference or commit suicide, but... oh never mind!

When I was nine years old, I witnessed a woman go outside, drink gasoline, douse herself in gasoline, and then set herself on fire. Will never ever forget that.

OMG, Vegas! What a horrific thing for you to see at all, let alone at 9 years old.

One of my childhood friends found her brother hanged in the basement when she was 7. Julie was such a perky and optimistic person, you would never suspect she had seen something so terrible.

One of my best friends jumped off a bridge. Now I have to travel the same bridge that Joey jumped off of, twice a day, to get to work and back. I think of him every single time.

I know that someone must be suffering terribly to end their life in such a violent way, and suicide in any form is a violent act, but I can't help but think that their end is mercifully swift.

Its the ones left behind that don't get that relief.

I just wonder what tortured her so that she wanted to end her life by being torn apart alive? That is just beyond belief. But, when I saw the woman set herself on fire, she had no emotion on her face. I was watching her from the babysitters house while the babysitter was on the phone, curious as to what the lady was doing with the can of gasoline, and then PHOOM! She was ablaze. She stood there, on fire (at some point I guess I started screaming) and this man came out in the backyard and tried to spray water on her. I remember it was just a tiny trickle coming from the water hose and I thought, he's making it worse. Then she finally fell down. Don't remember what happened after that, the babysitter covered my face. I heard on the news that the girl died. My parents sent me to a child psychologist the next day thinking I should get immediate help in dealing with what I saw. I don't remember any of the sessions with the therapist.

Gosh ... you just don't know what to think after hearing that... and what do you say to a child that witnessed something like that?? (the crocs or the buring lady)

How awful for this woman to die the way she did and to think she did it because of her husband. I wouldn't die for someone else who hurt me that's for sure. Whatever he did to her must have been beyond anything a human being could endure. I agree, she should have pushed him in instead!

Without giving away too many details, a male who started out in my nursing program dropped out after his wife found out he was cheating on her.

She shot herself in the face.

Sadly, she lived and is now fed by a g-tube, can no longer speak, and is constantly in and out of the hospital.
