Why Oh 'Why Do We Have To Tell Every Damn Thing?

  1. Just finished watching the 6 A.M. news where the news reporters are telling every damn thing they can about how our President and Security Personnel are securing the US Borders, etc.

I am soooooooo SICK AND TIRED of EVERYTHING being told on the news and throughout the Media World that I wish I were "Jeanie in a Bottle" to SHUT THEM ALL UP!!! :angryfire

Why oh why is it necessary for the media and the news to report every damn thing? Have we NOT learned our lesson yet??? How many more "9/11" tragedies does America need to experience BEFORE we realize that "Our Enemies Are Watching and Listening To Every Damn Thing We Broadcast!!!

I will NEVER understand this NEED TO KNOW crap!!! So what......the public wants to know.....we have the right to know....blah blah blah!!! HORSESHICK!!! What we are doing is blabbing off the mouth every move our politicians and military make........we are HAND FEEDING our frickin' Enemies, folks!!!

I need to go get ready to teach my marriage class, but before I left, I just had to get this off my chest.

I'm of two minds on this topic, still trying to sort myself out. I too cringe when I hear some of what is broadcast, but being a child of the 60's, I really don't feel comfortable in believing that all government officials are benevolent, with our best interests at heart, and kind of think that the press can provide a check on this (remembering Watergate) Not sure what the answer is, there has to be a middle ground somewhere out there.

Me too... I go back and forth. Being also a child of the late 60's/early70's AND in the USAF at that time, made it difficult. Am proud to be an American, yes ! But can't always agree with our policies...have been exposed to too many viewpoints of other cultures over time, and overseas. Understand a lot more today than I naively believed about us growing up. In my heart of hearts I believe we are no less corrupt than any other country/nation ! Self-gain is human nature, and our elected officials are plagued with this same condition, as are we all.
Yet I do feel great concern about "giving away"our every detailed plan... eyes and ears are EVERYWHERE, and theyWILL use every scrap of info ! (as do we).. We need to be cautious. Freedom is NEVER free. We need to sacrifice some things to hold on to what we have..even if it troubles my "right to know". My dad would turn over in his grave if he saw what we were releasing....too many have fought and died for our country to allow our "right to know" to negate all that they gave... including their lives. God Bless America. And may God bless those who hate it.

I agree, some things are better left unsaid. There is a huge store of nerve gas 30 miles from here at the Newport, IN Depot. We are East (downwind) from it. I hate it when the news media, especially TV tell every time the guard changes, or when they bring new troops from the 101st Airborne to guard it, how many etc etc. One drop of this crap on your skin can kill you and they have thousands of gallons of it. Maybe it would be better not to call so much attention to it. DUH!!!!

It makes me nutz.....when i was military and the Gulf War was going on, I clearly remember CNN broadcasting facts/issues about the war that were considered CLASSIFIED and definately NOT things we were allowed to discuss period. It INCENSED me then, and does now. I have reached a pt. whereby I get my news online and when I get angry or disgusted, I move on to the next item. I cannot stomach TV news any longer. They all make me ill. And they do not even TRY to conceal their political agendas. So professional, huh?

Hey Sleepyeyes...what is that pic in your avatar?

Yes the media morons think they have to know everything and broadcast everything......l love to watch Donald Rumsfeld's (sp) news conferences he holds daily around 1p...FOX News always covers it....he is so cool in the way he handles the press.

On the other hand...l am of the less popular oppinion that the reason we are about to go to war w/ Iraq is because the IS classified info that the public is not privy to due to enemy ears......oh well...........LR

Oh honey, ITA!!!!!!! It completely chafes me to hear this "need to know/right to know" crap. However, I realize that the liberal media is totally caught up in sensationalism, and will NEVER, EVER LEARN.

I feel your pain, Renee!! :chuckle

:roll LR, that is so true!! Rumsfeld is my hero. He smacks those press idiots around in such a polite, professional way. I love him.

I'm soooo glad others see the gest of this situation, too. It's sad....truly sad indeed! I want our troops protected in every way possible. I want our country protected in every way possible. How on earth can that happen when we've got money-hungry-news hungry media broadcasting everything except the soldiers' bloodtypes?

I just got home from being out all morning, so while I ate my lunch, I watched a little of the 9/11 Tributes on the news stations. Now...I'm so sappy that I can't do anything cheery.....so excuse me while I go take a nap to gather my composure. Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this subject. Vent whatever feelings you have based on how this situation may be affecting you as well. I'll be back later on. :kiss

I TOTALLY AGREE with you Cheerful! I was so mad when I sat one afternoon right after the 9/11 attacks and listened to a newcaster TELL the WHOLE WORLD where the underground tunnels were and then continued to blab that it(site R)is 5.5 miles west of my town, and __ many miles from camp David!!! Hello! It is underground and protected by the marines for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention, really close to me!
That made me sleep well at night! (not)
For the first 6 months after the attacks, you could look outside my house and see and hear the jets patrolling, at all hours of the day and night. It was unreal, but really comforting to know that our armed forces were watching over us all the time.

I agree too Cheerful, way too much information is shared with the Public.

Human nature is a poweful thing, isn't it? I "need" to know whats going on but on the other hand, our own media should reel in some info, or at least be more aware and concerned of the dangers their exposes pose. My brother is in the middle East, living in a tent defending us and not long ago, a web cam pic of their base was circulated on the internet. How horrible...They (my brother and fellow soldiers) were terribly upset. After all, this was a satellite phot of their whereabouts, and if you and I ( and any other person, ie potential or actual terrorist) has privy to those photos ( compiled by some commercial company sponsor, whose name escapes me now), who is to say, something horrific won't happen to them....

ITA Renee. It makes me so angry, just as it did during the gulf war, CNN needs a gag!

On the other hand, I try to rationalize it by telling myself the military and political leaders feed info they would want the enemy to hear, and may not necessarily be the truth. I like delusion, it helps me cope with my otherwise anger. Kind of like our local newspaper planted a story for the cops in order to catch a murderer. They rpinted that there was a reward of $10,000 for anyonw with info on the missing woman. Didn't the stupid azz girflriend of the killer call the cops and tell them she was a psychic, and had a vision of where the body was. They knew she was as dumb as a stump, and she fell right into their trap. I am hpoing this is the therory behind the news links, but I know I'm probably just kidding myself.
