Why is it????????

  1. In the old days we had 3 channels on the TV and there was always something really good on.
Now we have hundreds of channels and rarely is anything really good on.

And in our case, four different things to record shows on, and still we don't find anything good to watch.

I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago, tom.

I agree...My husband and I finally decided to give up on the cable/satellite/dish 200 channels and all that rot. They still call us at least once a week trying to get us to sign up. We belong to Netflix cause we still love to watch movies, but we get to pick what we watch. After about two weeks I didn't miss it. I read the newspaper for the news and look online for headlines, etc. I definetely don't miss the constant channel surfing to either find something we had already seen (networks are so repetitive) or something really stupid (ie: reality shows).

That's funny.... We finally joined Netflix because I won a DVD player and that was the most efficient way to get movies. We watched quite a few (gotta get our money's worth, right?) until we actually ran out of movies we were interested in!

We also keep a list of movies we want to watch and those we have--the list got checked before we ordered DVD's. (DH is an engineer....)

So, when Netflix got boring, I got dish. DH was against it but really likes some of what is on.

And now we have (temporarily I assume) run out of stuff to watch again.

    Maybe we need another hobby....

Hey Tom! I thought you spent all your spare time on the golf course?!

Chris- lol, we have a long list of movies to go yet...this was a recent decision on our part. You are probably right and we may want TV again in the future. I must admit I miss the food network and PBS, but thats about it.

I think you are right about the hobby thing, I am sure we could all use new ways to spend our time rather than spending it in front of the TV.

I love fencing, but its certainly underappreciated here in Texas, the Epee, the rapier, the sabre. the Katana.

Swords and the study of swords and their usage has some natural translation into golfing.

    I have quite a collection

Hmmm, I only have one channel that comes in clearly on my non-cabled dinky tv set, Public Televsion Channel with the little furry animals in the morning, people begging for money to supprt PBS at night and (best of all!) Master Piece Theatre on Sundays where there are usually weird nicely-dressed English people getting annoyed with each other.
I like my channel(I'm seious) but I'll trade with you guys if you want. Come on! PBS equals no commercials, no sex, no violence.... No? Ah, as you wish....

By the way time, TeeItUp, I asked you a long-*** question about nursing a while ago for my mom and you took the time to answer all my questions and I never thanked you. So, thank you very much. It was very much appreciated and very useful to get your input : )
