Why are commercials so LOUD

  1. This has been annoying me for a long time, why are tv commercials so loud, do the companies think we will hear them from another room? NO I just reach for the remote and switch the channel, not listening at all, does this annoy anyone else? I called my cable company, they call is running HOT which is illegal but it is still done, I wonder what can be done about it? Ok, maybe I woke up grumpy today............ Nope, it bugs me when I'm not grumpy either. What do you all think? How can we stop the maddness?????

I thought I was the only one that found them LOUD and annoyingly so....but I see that i am not alone.....I mean they are at an ear blasting decible. Maybe if we start complaining to the Channels that host the commercials??? I dunno...would love to get them to tone them down

Maybe they are trying to GRAB your attention so you will buy
their stinking products. I agree 100%, they are way to loud.

Yes this bugs me too.I have come to the conclusion that maybe they do this for the people that can't hear well, and they want them to make sure that they know that their brand is the best in hopes of that they will buy it.

This is the only thing I could come up with as to why they have the commercials so dang loud. And my mother wonders why I'll only buy genaric products whenever possible.

I was never so disheartened when after buying a sat. dish I found out that even the satelite stations had commercials!
I thought since we were paying for our tv there wouldn't be any commercials.
I think there are MORE on the sat. stations than on the local ones.

One nother good reason that the internet is better than TV. TV? Can't stand the stuff.

I remember reading somewhere that commercials are really not any louder than the tv shows, it is just that there is usually music and lots of activity going on with the commercial and the tv show is usually dialogue . . . . it was supposedly tested with some device that showed no difference.

    I didn't buy it.

    I mute the commercials . . .

I don't believe that for a minute. I KNOW there are many that are louder. But its a counter-productive strategy here because it just gets them muted faster! Looooove that mute button.

Old fogey here who finds (in general ) the generations younger than are quite LOUD in comparison to mine. So I gotta feeling the advertisers are just trying to keep up.

The younger generations are their best customers I hear.

Loudness, rudeness and nonconcern for bothering others with noisy commotion seems to be the norm these days.

You sure you don't live at my house, Donny??? lol lol lol....sounds just like me...I'll be walking by the "blaring" TV and turn it down only to hear, "MOOMMMM!! It's only the commecial, I won't be able to hear the program when it comes back on!!" And you know what??? They are right....lol

And Rusty, might I suggest that you just use the 6+ channels of commercial free music if you don't want the commercials....even channels like NatGeo, Discovery and TLC have as many commercials as the other channels...and I am with you. If I am paying for it, I should be able to control the number of commercials seen. Oh well.....some day *sigh*

Newer tv's have a sound leveler Magnavox calls their's Smart Sound RCA calls it Sound Image check your audio options on your set you may be able to control this. I used to find it annoying to be resting comfortably in the recliner only to be rudely awakened by that god-forsaken Kool-Aid man.
