Who among our allnurse siblings will be laboring tomorrow?

  1. Another holiday rolls around - who's spending it at work?

Should be a nice quiet one with any luck.

I supposed to be laboring...but not sure yet. Most hospitals don't allow travelers to work on the holidays...because of the cost! And this hospital has been doing a lot of canceling lately of agency. But since I get paid even if they cancel me...I'm not sure what they will do. They could save money by canceling me for the hours of 7p to 12am and there by saving them from paying the holiday pay....or they can let me work it all. Either way...it's ok with me...

I'm working tonight and getting holiday pay. Yippee...I honestly don't mind working holidays. My family is too far away to get to see and what day we celebrate makes very little difference in my mind. That and the extra money...I have signed up for pretty much every holiday this year. Wheeeeee.

    Indeed.

I'll be labouring at midnight 'till 8am. Double pay + shift differential.....Yippeeee! :spin:
I'll earn every bit of it since I have to work "Hell Hall." The hall with the most residents, the most demanding, the most tx's, and the most meds!

I will be working 3-11 tomorrow. Don't know yet just what unit I will be on though. I have a schedule that says I will be on a certain unit, but on Friday, one of the regular nurses for that unit said that she was going to be on that day. SOOOO, I guess they will find somewhere to put me.

If I were working now, I'd more and likely be working on Labor Day as I usually volunteered to work holidays after my own three kids flew the coup to adulthood living. I would do this to allow the nurses who had little ones to be home with them on a holiday....something the nurses always appreciated, and I always enjoyed doing. No....although the pay was nice...I never worked for the extra pay...so that never entered into my decision to work holidays.
