Where the heck is this email porn coming from, lol

  1. Did I hear someone mention on here that someone subscribed them to a bunch of porn. I swear everytime I check my email this week there's some more.

My filters are already set as high as possible so that even my subscription to the Meijer Newsletter gets put in the junk folder

Anyone got a solution to get rid of this crap...I block it more comes (hey get your mind out of the gutter!) Anyway I'm starting to get ticked since I usually check my email from work or school, it's not really what I want to show up on the screen, lol.

This has got to be a billion dollar industry. It infiltrates every pore of almost every email system out there. I hate it.

...And it's getting worse. Some of the things that arrive in my junkmail. I've reported one or two e-mails to the ISP & to the Dept. of Justice.
What are you using for mail Leslie? Hotmail? AOL? etc....

When I had AOL I always got crap. I've never had a problem with my hotmail. I guess it would depend on how many different newsletter/timed mailings you are subscribed to. Even Meijer will sell your email address for 1/10000th of a penny.

One hint I learned form a computer geek before... you know how some of them say "Click here to unsubscribe." Well, most of the time, all the recipient's email addresses are computer generated, made up. When you click on that button, you're confirming that it is a valid email address, and while they can no longer send you anything, they can sell your addy to more company's. (purdy sneaky, huh?)

My hotmail account screens things out pretty well. My compuserve account, though, gets an awful lot of junk. And it IS disgusting! It does seem like it's getting worse. Seems like after awhile the market would dry up, doesn't it, when it's this saturated? I don't understand.

I was under the impression AOL and CompuServe were, well, the same thing?

Yes, compuserve and AOL are the same company.

What's really f*cked up and weird is that my yahoo email account sent ME a junk email!! I thought someone hacked into my yahoo account but, no, it's sending me junk email to my main AOL account!! I should delete it, but I don't want anyone else taking my name.
Hey Vegas, we had something like that happening on our computer awhile back. It appeared as if hubby and I were sending each other emails, amongst all of our different accounts. Careful with them, they were all viruses. Our virus scan thingie caught them all, it was just weird. I hadn't logged into my hotmail for days, yet it was sending my outlook express box viruses

you know there is a way to fight it...
you can download an email caster... first you click 'full headers' then you have to do a search to see where the email is really coming from, then once you've established the fact you write a short email that says don't spam me use the email caster and send them about 5000 of the same emails!
I did it a couple of times but there are so many of them and only one me so I thought, No, I'll just change my email address ever so often. I keep one for friends and one for things that i do on the net that require an email. No matter what when you surf they get your email address eventually!
The easiest solution is to just change it and send an email to all your friends telling them the new one.
I also just use yahoo email as when I was on a dial up and would occasionally change ISPs it was such a pain to contact everyone with the new email...

You have to use my new favorite word (complimets of sunny) "fargin!"

This, along with a good "holy crap!" makes me feel better every time! I just love it!

I have to admit, my all time favorite is still,

It just says it so nicely in a conveniently abbreviated fashion.

I use hotmail, which until now has been great about filtering, I need to mess around with it and see what's going on...

I do have a Yahoo address that I never use just got for Yahoo messenger, maybe they'd be better to switch to

Or maybe I'll just start forwarding them to Rusty! He did suggest that somewhere!
