When you're 65!

  1. What would you all do when you retirer?

Not that I'm close to it either, but one of my friends at work retirered at 55 this year....I'll admit I'm wishing sometimes it were me.

I always thought I'd work even if it were just a couple of days a month as a nurse. I hope to have the money to continue to travel, sometimes I think it would be neat to have a B & B or coffee shoppe or even a hotdog stand too.

Forgive my spelling mistakes (for me it's 4 am and I'm pooped)!

I will probably be doing my agency perdiem in critical care....taking short contracts and travel assignments every now and then, my DH is wanting to sell the house and buy a travel trailer instead. He is looking forward to golfing while I work...hehe. Big ideas... :chuckle

When I was still active, I wanted to buy a motor home and travel between seeing my friends, my kids, and my grandkids, then back to some more friends, my kids, and my grandkids, etc. Now I'm not yet 65, but am disabled, and travel via the internet.

I was thinking to purchasing a vintage one and fix it up. There are some pretty neat clubs! I could sell the hotdogs in the trailer parks!

Do love to travel, and I haven't even seen much of my own country.

I'll never retire totally. I know that if I did, I'd become a couch potato. The only way I will keep going is if I keep going. As someone previously eloquently posted, "I'll sleep when I die!"

I love having money so I won't quit working. I am hoping that I will be able to just work part-time when I am 65.

I'm planning my retirement now. We've been purchasing real estate on and off for awhile now and should be set by the time we are 55. Continue nursing? Only if I am really bored or just want to keep my license up. I hope not to NEED to do it for the money.

Yep... dh retired this past winter, and he is just soooooooooooo enjoying golfing while I work. He's 11 years older than I, however, so I have 12 more years before I can retire with full SS benefits... IF it even exsists by then.

Would like to work PT by then, however. Think I'll ALWAYS want to work just a LITTLE,. anyway.. can't imagine NOT. Even two days a week would suffice and fill that void.

But yes, travel and see all the places we've not explored yet.

Hi Rusty. It's good to see you. When I was in my active prime, and thinking about what I would do if I won the lottery, I decided I wouldn't stop working, because I would feel I would lose my usefulness to society, and that would make me unhappy. I know people would look at me like I was nuts, but I would put a substantial down payment on homes and buy cars for my kids, and pay their college loans off, and I would probably put a hundred thousand away for myself, and I would donate the rest to help those who are less fortunate than me. I can think of a lot of people who are too.

I have worked part-time most of my career (.6 to .8)...but would like to remain in nursing on a very limited basis.

Lucky/smart of you to invest in land...I'm still waiting on a particular area of lake property (it's been tied up in the zoning in that county for over 2 years). If not for the emotional ties with that area I've had moved on.
