At exactly 7:42 A.M. EST (don't know about NM) tomorrow, the days begin to get longer... woo hoo! At that time the sun is at the farthest point south that it can be seen directly overhead at noon on the tropic of capricorn (scuz the grammar). And I am going from memory... I could be way off. I always manage to get my longitudes and latitudes confused. I guess, the only thing that matters is the days (or the amount of day light) get longer...

PS I must have posted the same time you did.

And I see you are in NM... I always wanted to check out the "Sun Dagger" at Chaco Canyon during the solstices (sp?)

Tomorrow is/was mine and my ex husband's wedding anniversary.....would have been married 14 yrs tomorrow. Divorced last year in May.

When I hated him I used to say "How appropriate that I picked the coldest damn day of the year to marry the coldest man in the world."

When I loved him I said "How appropriate....I picked the coziest, happiest and most festive time of the year to marry the man I will always love."

Funny, but now that we're divorced we get along better than we ever had. Had Thanksgiving dinner together with the kids and I'm spending Christmas eve at his house so we can all be together on Christmas morning. No strings attached. And kids are old enough (13 and 15) to understand. This may be our best anniversary yet!

Live and learn I guess....and then you grow up! Sometimes it sucks what you have to go through to grow, but it's all part of it I guess.......

Happy Holidays and Happy first day of winter!

I start looking forward to Spring on January 1st!!! I love gardening and the long warm days. I actually get to see the sunshine at 5:00 pm when I get up from day sleep. During the winter here in Oregon, I rarily see sunshine, due to morning cloudiness and it's dark before I get up in the evening. By the time winter is over I look like a ghost....Yippee for longer days to come!!!!

Yep, January I start looking at garden supply sites and thinking about ordering seeds and things.

I'm going to be starting back to work on January 17th, and most of me is looking forward to it.
