In honor of the 228th anniversary of our country's birth, let's talk about our favorite patriotic songs.....you know, the ones that bring tears to your eyes and send chills down your spine whenever you hear them, no matter how much you may hate to admit it
My absolute favorite of all time is "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". That one never fails to make me mist up, or to thank God I live here in the greatest country on earth. I also love "God Bless America"---unlike our national anthem, it's a song citizens of modest musical talent can sing, and one even those of us who can't carry a tune in a bucket can at least hum. And I adore Elvis Presley's "American Trilogy" and Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to Be An American", as well as the old standard "America the Beautiful" (I even know all the words!).
So, what are YOUR favorites, and why? BTW, this is totally NON-PARTISAN......

God Bless America (who's Kate Smith??)
God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood.
I also really love Alan Jackson's "where were you when the world stopped turning"
I have a CD that has all these (and more) on it and I have been listening to it regularly.
