Whats The Deal? Ob Nurse

  1. WE SEEM TO HAVE A NURSE HERE THAT DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE PRIVATE MESSAGES SENT TO HER SO SHE CAN SHOW JUST HOW "bad" SHE IS ON LINE IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY SO HERE IT IS. GIVE IT TO ME GOOD OBHEATHER. I DO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE A VERY IMMATURE PERSON IN NATURE DUE TO THE FACTTHAT YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO USE CUSS WORDS TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS. I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, IF YOU HATE YOUR CAREER SO MUCH , PLEASE, DO THE NURSING FIELD A FAVOR AND GET OUT!!!
I BELIEVE ITS MORE THAN THE MONEY THAT PEOPLE BECOME NURSES, ITS THE FACT THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO GIVE GENIUNE CARE TO PEOPLE. CAN YOU DO THAT? MY SIS-N-LAW (PATTYCAKES) ONLY CAME ON THIS BOARD TO GET SOME POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT AND ALL SHE GOT WAS BS FROM THE MAJORITY OF ALL OF YOU. I HAVE BEEN A DIALYSIS NURSE FOR 3 YRS AND HAVE NOT FOUND NEAR THE STRESSES THAT I HEAR IN HERE. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GIVE THAT FIELD A TRY. I THINK THE NURSING FIELD HAS EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE, SO MANY CHOICES. YES, LIKE ANY OTHER CAREER IT CAN HAVE ITS DOWN SIDES, BUT AS A WHOLE I THINK ITS GREAT!!!!!

I did look into dialysis. The hours are great, but I would have taken a pay cut. Plus, I would have been bored silly. The stress/excitment of working in a unit keeps me going. It would be nice if someone recognized it for what it is though. VERY difficult!

OUCH!!! where did this come from?

ok...i have to jump in here...i'm sick of seeing this stuff!!!!!

pattycakes & amy...i'm sorry if you got some upset replies to your post patty, i'm sure they may sound discouraging...but think about your initial title..."what are you guys complaining about?" i'm not really sure what kind of replies you were expecting???

it's common knowledge that how you say something can totally change that meaning of what you say. i also came to this site for some positive reinforcement on choosing a career in nursing, i have got nothing but excellent responses to everything i have asked, simply because i treat the people i'm talking to with respect & i do so because i am not a nurse, but i want to learn as much as i can from this great resource-the bb. think about how people might have responded if your question had been phrased differently?

i don't want all nurses here to be thrilled with nursing everyday and not one bad word to say about it-because that's not real. i have 3 lpns in my family and i've seen what nursing does to them first hand-and i usually don't see them on christmas! but i know that despite the good and bad they'd never give it up-which to me is what i want to hear. we need to hear the complaining and problems-because hey-they happen, here just like with any job.

as for heather & probably others who are sick of getting pm's then hey leave them alone! anyone here has the right to choose who they do or don't have contact with on the bb, so that's their choice. frankly, i agree, i'm tired of it. you asked a bad question knowing you were going to stir people up, so don't be disappointed with the replies you got & don't be surprised that people don't want to receive pm's from you. i'm sure that you could get a lot of positive feedback here if you ask for it, by asking appropriate questions, nothing personal to you amy-you are a great resource to patty & it's great you love your job, but unfortunately everyone's experience is different. maybe you should give it another try pattycakes. anyway

but please do not air you dirty laundry and vices with others here-in this situation it's just not appropriate-she doesn't want to receive pm's anymore ok enough said, you know! i can understand why!

You had to be here in the beginning...the thread started by Pattycakes set off a huge argument. Some people have chosen to put Pattycakes and her sister-in-law akg2002 on their PM ignore lists as they don't care to receive messages from them.

    btw...
This post has been reported to a moderator as it does appear to be harrassment...which is a violation of the boards rules.

    I agree.
Pattycakes, if you don't like Heather, then ignore her.

I feel your post is unprofessional to say the least. Try to at least post something that is worth-reading. There were several people who disagreed with you, but there were others, namely myself, who tried to explain to you what is going on in the nursing profession. You chose to ignore those posts and instead thrive on the controversy.

I am upset that you posted this as I am an OB nurse and I thought this was a post r/t obstetrics: not this childlike behavior.

Get over it and move on.

ALL PATTY DID WAS ASK A SIMPLE QUESTION AND EXPLAINED HOW PATHETIC TEACHING SALARY IS AND YES, SHE BASED HER KNOWLEDGE ON WHAT I SAID ABOUT NURSES SALARIES HERE WHICH WAS THE TRUTH . IT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE ITS PITIFUL IN THE STATE OF MS. WE LIVE IN OLIVE BRANCH RIGHT OUTSIDE MEMPHIS AND I CHOOSE TO WORK THERE DUE TO MORE CHANCES OF OPPORTUNITY AND EXPERIENCE. AND IF YOU ALL READ EVERY RESPONSE TO PATTYS ORIGINAL POST YOU COULD GET DEFENSIVE ALSO. SHE MEANT NO HARM AND ALOT OF PEOPLE ACTED LIKE IT WAS A PERSONAL ATTACK. AS FAR AS THE PERSONAL MESSAGES. I WROTE THE OB NURSE BASICALLY TELLING HER THAT SHE HAD A NASTY MOUTH WITH ALL HER CUSSING SHE THINKS SHE HAS TO DO TO GET HER POINT ACROSS. PERSONALLY, I TAKE THAT RATHER OFFENSIVE. BUT I COULD CARE LESS IF ALL OF YOU BLOCK US OUT CAUSE I HAVE NO MORE TO SAY UNLESS YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD AND OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN NOT. PEOPLE EVEN ATTACKED PATTY ABOUT HERE GRAMMER MAKING COMMENTS ABOUT HOW THEY HOPE SHES NOT AN ENGLISH TEACHER. NOW WHO SHOULD BE OFFENDED. EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES WHEN THEY ARE TYPING IN HERE. BIG DEAL. CANT JUST EVERYONE GET ALONG?

What a shame! This is one of the reasons nurses in general can't get the respect because we are too damn busy being pety, malicious and nasty to one another. Even if someone puts something out on this post and it is not to your agreement there are ways to make your point known without being ignorant. Nursing is what you make it. I like what I do and there are days I am so tired and want to quit. Like the others stated it is too diverse of an area to be miserable in what you are doing. I say GET OVER IT!!!! DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!

Well everyone was getting along until pattycakes got so defensive and got everyone started.. and who can blame them... Can you not move from MS??? Beings as it is SOOOO bad... You live in a small town area.. What do you expect... Nurses in Jackson are being started at $23/hr... Or is that not enough for you..
