What's everyone reading?

  1. Hey everyone, it's almost summer! (YES!!!) Aren't we about due for a book update? What's good for sitting on the porch or laying on the beach?

I just picked up Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, highly recommended by a co-worker. Just started it, so no opinion yet except to say I have loved her other books.
What else is good out there?

I'm not a big fiction fan... right now (before school starts back up!) I'm reading Love, Medicine and Miracles, The Total Money Makeover (Dave Ramsey), and Fast Food Nation..... none of which are really good "beachy" books, but I'm enjoying them anyway.

I have two books going right now. The first is a Jeffrey Deaver novel, and the second is called "The ***** in the House."

I just finished Oryx and Crake - excellent. Also just finished Eventide by Kent Haruf. Weepy, easy read - I like the way he writes. Now I am working on Brick Lane by Monica Ali.

I am currently reading "When Rabbitt Howls" by Trudy Chase. It is a true story about a woman with multiple personalities. It is bizarre, horrific and captivating at the same time.

This is of course in between reading Glamour, Cosmopolitan and People magazines.

I am reading "The Vampire Armand" by Anne Rice. Guess, I am in a goth, morbid kind of mood lately.

I just finished reading 'The Devil's Teardrop' by Jeffrey Deaver. I thought it was good at first, but then it just got so crazy and unbelievable...I know it's fiction, but come on! I don't know what's next on my reading list yet.

I read that. Scary sad stuff. I also read the DaVinci Code and loved it; now I'm onto my ACLS preparation (sigh)

I liked the first two much better!

"A Wrinkle in Time" and "Many Waters" by Madeline D'Engle. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series! I was quite disappointed by the Disney Adaptation on Monday night. But then, I usually am disappointed by most book-to-film adaptations.
