What other degrees/diplomas/certificates do you have?

  1. Hi i was just wondering what other degrees/diplomas/certificates everyone has besides nursing.
I find it very intresting that some people just totally jump to a diffrent major out side of the nursing field.

Well anyway here are the questions.
    1) What degrees/diplomas/certificates did you have before nursing?

    2) What type of nurse are you now? (ex. - have a BSN, ADN, RN, etc.) Also what certificates you hold now.

    3) What you plan to do for the future? Do you plan to get a certificate? Do you want to go get another degree to further your carrer in nursing (ex - MBA, MPH, MS in Nursing, etc)

Oh yea if you want to give a short summary of why you changed to nursing or time line feel free

    ============================================
Oh almost forgot to write the answers to my questions.
Have a BS in Health Science.

Going to sign up for a CPR certification class sometime in the near future.

    Currently applying to BSN programs.

I'm probably going to stay put with the ADN. I have had a Med-Surg Certification in the past and am in the process of getting that again.

    Oohh neat question.

My only degree is a BSN without any certifications, and probably never will get certified in anything. Currently I am a research nurse for an NIH funded study concerning birth defects, but am in the process of changing jobs to do something more in line with what I am going to school for: teaching/education: either an Education Coordinator or a Health & Safety Nurse (annual trainings, etc). My clinical background is labor and delivery.

I am a 2nd year grad student for my MSN in Nursing Education.

    1. Diploma grad

    2. I've had several certs.; the most recents certs were ANA cert for general nursing practice, and also a cert for hospice. They both expired in Jan.

    3. I was most recently working in ED until I was injured.

    4. I have 2 years completed for BSN/Spanish degree. Don't know what I am going to do right now; I don't think that I will be able to do much bedside nursing anymore d/t my injury, so I'm not sure what is in the cards for future plans.

    3. No certs yet, but planning on ACLS in next 6 months and CCRN eventually.

    4. I absolutely plan on obtaining my MSN in the future. Thought about CRNA, but I would probably rather teach critical care nursing.

    1) Bachelor of Music (BM) in Film Composition from Berklee College of Music.

    2) Associates in Science for nursing. Bachelor of Science for nursing. Used to be OCN when I was a Heme/Onc/BMT staff nurse. Currently ACLS as an ICU/CCU nurse.

    3) Plans for the future??? The only plans for further education in nursing might be CCRN. Otherwise, any plans for a Masters degree will be music composition/recording oriented.

    Good thread.
