What is the most romantic song you've ever heard?

  1. Not many songs make me weak in the knees, but there are a few that really "do it for me." KWIM? For me the most romantic song is Look what you've done to me by Boz Scaggs. For whatever reason that song just makes me melt. If I had a man right now, and was feeling playful, and amorous, Pour some sugar on me by Def Leppard would definitely fill the bill!!! :chuckle :imbar What songs get you in the romantic mood??? Our song is "She & I" by Alabama. I'm not much of a country fan but my boyfriend played this song for me years ago when we first started dating. When we start fighting and wind up in dead silence, he'll play this song and it makes me heart melt. I really am one lucky woman!

Anne Murray: "Could I Have This Dance?"

The lyrics go: Could I have this dance, for the rest of my life. You be my partner, every night. When we're together, it feels so right. Could I have this dance, for the rest of my life.

I always dreamed of dancing with my guy to this song. They played that dance when I danced for the first time in my life, with my hubby, at our daughter's wedding. It makes me feel happy all over.

One sisters fave is "twelth of Never' by Johnny Mathis.

Although Dolly Partons "I Will Always Love You" is a great song my personal favorite is "Sometimes When We Touch"

    Sometimes When We Touch
    ( Dan Hill )

You ask me if I love you
And I choke on my reply
    I'd rather hurt you honestly
Than mislead you with a lie
And who am I to judge you
On what you say or do?
I'm only just beginning to see the real you

    And sometimes when we touch
    The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you til I die
Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

    Romance and all its strategy
Leaves me battling with my pride
    But through the insecurity
    Some tenderness survives
    I'm just another writer
    Still trapped within my truth
    A hesitant prize fighter
    Still trapped within my youth

    And sometimes when we touch
    The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you til I die
Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

At times I'd like to break you
And drive you to your knees
At times I'd like to break through
    And hold you endlessly

    At times I understand you
And I see how hard you've tried
I've watched while love commands you
And I've watched love pass you by

At times I think we're drifters
    Still searching for a friend
    A brother or a sister
But then the passion flares again

    And sometimes when we touch
    The honesty's too much
And I have to close my eyes and hide
I wanna hold you til I die
Til we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

I think the most romantic songs of all time were written in the 70s. #3 Most Romantic Song is "Time In A Bottle" by Jim Croce. #2 is "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", was recorded by Roberta Flack, but I don't know who wrote it. The #1 most romantic song of all time is "If" written by David Gates and was a solo by him with his group called "Bread".

If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show, the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships, then where am I to go?
there's no one home but you, You're all that's left me too.
And when, my love, for life is running dry,
you come, and pour, yourself, on me.
If a man could be two places at one time I'd be with you.
tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.

If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you, and when the world was through,
Then one, by one, the stars would all go out
and you, and I, would simply fly away

Now if you're talking "put me in the mood" kind of songs, my song would be "You're Making Me High" by Toni Braxton.

The Lady In Read was romantic too. Especially since it was written for the writer's wife. Your Song by Elton John/Bernite Taupin is pretty romantic too.

The song we got married to: Shania Twain and Bryan White's "From This Moment On"

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
    From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
    From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing that I wouldn't give
    From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing that I wouldn't give
    From this moment on
    From this moment on

And for getting me in the mood.....I love TLC's music.

"The Long and Winding Road" comes to mind. Love that recording (the original Phil Spector-produced version).

    Also dig "God Only Knows."
