What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

  1. We have to keep water dribbling out of the faucets because it is so cold that pipes are freezing in occupied homes.

It's the middle of winter and I'm tired of working and studying and negative people.

So I want all my fun allnurses friends to join in and tell me the craziest thing you have ever done. If you don't like the topic of this thread, don't bother replying---just move along.

Anyway, I'm going to start by confessing the dumbest craziest thing. When I was 18 I helped harvest a marijuana field and drove to Chicago with a load of it in my trunk. This was 30 years ago, in 1972.

Considering that I had uncles and cousins that were police officers in virtually every county I travelled through (including Chicago) I am very lucky not to have been stopped. Because the family rule has always been 'Don't expect special favors--in fact we'll help them throw the book at you."

Anyway, I think it would have been a felony because of the amount. I'm so lucky I don't have that on my record. Especially because I did it 'as a lark'. I don't think I was ever even paid for the gas.

I've done other embarassing things, silly things, stupid things, but when I look back, I think this is still the craziest. Of course, the last time I told this story at a party I was told that I've lived a boring life.

Can't wait to hear your stories! :chuckle

    hmmmmm? Craziest?

The summer I got my driver's license I got to spend a couple weeks at the beach in a condo with friends (yeee haaaw!) We discovered that our bedroom window opened onto the alleyway behind the building...so we removed the screen and hid it in the closet for the duration of our stay. Every night we climbed out the window and wandered Pacific Beach looking for "hotties" - although I think at the time the term was "hunk". We had friends bring beer. We even walked on the beach in the wee hours of the morning...legal curfew for minors was midnight during the summer and here we were out on the beach at 3am!!! The moms couldn't figure out why we were so tired in the morning - we went to bed at 11pm!! HEHEHEHE
    Incidentally we didn't get caught.

The one night we had permission to be out late we drove to a marina where the yacht owned by one of the mom's company was kept...one of the friends staying in the condo worked part time on the yacht and knew where the keys to the bar were located...we waited for someone to open the locked gate...slipped through before it closed, and climbed aboard the yacht...about 10 mins later the marina police were there...asking who we were and what our business was on this yacht. My very quick thinking friend came up with an excuse so fast my head was spinning "Um? Officer, i work on this yacht during the day and today I left my keys below deck." You see, we were all below deck opening the bar. "We had to get my keys so I can go home!"...unbelivably the cop bought it and let us leave!!! OMG we thought we were gonna die!!! These marina guys are armed. We so could have been arrested for trespassing.

Since we had told the moms that we were going to see "Top Gun" (crud just aged myself) we stopped at the movie theater on the way back to the condo and begged our way in to pick ticket stubs off the floor to cover our azzez!!!! They bought it!! you know I never saw that movie till it came out on video!!!

That WAS crazy!! Probably the silliest
thing I have ever done was tried to make a date
work with two differenct guys, in the same time frame, at the same club. I was schizophrenic going from one side of that place to the other to spend time with the "dates". Thank God the club was HUGE. Was found out by one of them :imbar, but the other one never knew. Ah, to be so young and foolish again. Like your story, this happened around '76. Ah, to be energetic
enough to even try it again!!

I dove head first off of a 100 foot bridge into the Yellostone river in Montana.

We've hardly started, but I bet that takes the "crazy nurse" award, hands down.

My church youth group leader, back in the 70's, used to drive us kids around in a 1950- something hearst. One night, after watching "Superman" at the movies we picked up a hitchiker. (It was a different era guys) We pretended we were psych pts, talking nonsense, shrieking, drooling, playing with the poor guys hair...until he started screaming uncontrollably "Let me out! Let me out!"

Another time, my sis and I painted "I Love NY" in HUGE letters across a highway near Plattsburgh, NY.

Oh yeah, I flew off a cliff on a tobaggon in Nashville by the Cumberland river. (accidently)

    Yikes! !

    Craziest thing? ? ?

    Pretty boring life, here.

I guess I have to say diving off a 40 foot water falls when I was a kid.

These stories are great - keep 'em coming!

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say that the craziest thing I did was to do "the deed" with my husband in the median of route 89 in New Hampshire. Just got the urge, pulled the car off the right shoulder, ran across to the median and did what we had to do! There were a couple of trees around, but thinking back now, I'm sure we were in plain sight from some directions.

Hey Furball, where was that bridge, do you remember? I live near Plattsburgh, and could swear that I remember seeing "I love NY" painted on a bridge somewhere, if my memory serves me correctly!

Hey Mastiff, love your dog! We painted it across the pavement. We also painted "Fairy crossing" near the ferry and 'STOP" in the middle of nowhere, no intersection. Silly, I know.

Sheesh! I am sooo boring!!! I can't think of ONE crazy thing I have ever done!! Fear of heights and all probably has something to do with it.

OH! I know!!! I just did this yesterday! Mind you, I have always had blonde hair, it is getting darker, nearly brown now, but I have been highlighting it for a few years....

Yesterday, I had it highlighted with platinum blonde and violet red!!! My coworkers are gonna think I've lost my mind!

I got my tongue pierced once, does that count? (took it out for an hour about 2 months after I got it when I went to the doctor and it grew over) I am thinking about getting it done again.

I had kids. To me, that was plumb crazy. Well, am I boring or what?

Actually, I remember enjoying skinny-dipping in a creek near Payson AZ some years back and hearing other campers all around. Far as I know, we were not seen, but it sure was fun in that ice cold water, running in the buff. A bunch of us doing this , drinking beer and having the time of our lives in the sun-dappled woods. Ah for the fun old days......that was quite some time ago....

oh I do remember a drunken skinny dipping escapade with about 15 people... someone stole my clothes... imagining me running my fat butt around naked in the night must still give those people nightmares!!!
