What is the longest stretch you have ever stayed awake....

  1. I have been up for about 21 hours now. Not sleepy for some odd reason..got me to thinking...what is your longest stretch of not sleeping...how many hours/days have you gone before you went to sleep...either intentionally or unintentionally?

My longest was about 36 hours this past March....after working a 12 hour 7a-7p got called to the hospital because my MIL was dying. Stayed with her all night, she passed at 10 am, didn't get to bed to about 2pm that afternoon....

I'm tired now so I cant count hours, but whatever 4x24 is . . . . 4 days without sleep. I was unpleasant and hallucinating. Right now I'm going on 48 hours . . . . I'm going to try to sleep tonight though.

Stayed up 36 hours on 9/11 because i was just dropping off to sleep after having worked the previous 11-7 shift when hubs came into the bedroom and turned on the TV.
Had a DIL working in the area of the WTC, and a son who worked construction (coulda been anywhere), and we were frantic til we heard from them and that they were ok; then I was just so wired, i couldn't stop watching the news, grieving for the families.....
guess i finally passed out at some point. without a doubt the most awful week of my life

I put red, white, and blue ribbons on our tree out front that week and I won't take them down til that osama bin laden is dead and our troops are home.
