What if we capture Osama, Saddam, Sadr?

  1. Will the world really be safer?

Are US citizens safer in Europe now than before we captured SH?
What about the other continents, including North America?
What about is we capture or kill Osama?

Is it one man or a movement?

WE would really be stupid to think that we are "safe" at any time. There is always someone willing to spew hatred.

You got THAT right! But we can't lock ourselves inside our little warrens like a bunch of scared rabbits......otherwise we'll go completely insane, and we'd STILL be in danger. Obsessing about terrorism is just as bad as ignoring it, IMHO.

I agree with you there too! Obsessing about anything is not good, but obsessing about terrorism is just going to end up with more people harmed.

No, not at all. The main man could be caught, but there are still plenty of little men out there willing to do harm.

And there is always someone willing to step up and become the "big cheese" too!

What is your alternative suggestion? I guess you think we should not make any effort to try and capture murderous terrorists because another terrorist will just come along anyway??? This reasoning is sooooooo weak. So for example we should let all criminal go unpunished because there will just be more rapists, murderers, drug lords?

Beachnurse, I think they are saying that we shouldn't have a false sense of security if we get one man, it's the whole movement we need to deal with.

Your analogy about crime is the same thing. Arresting one drug dealer won't wipe out drugs in our country. Arresting one terrorist won't stop terrorism.

My point is that efforts MUST be made to stop it. There has to be a concerted effort to keep order and security. Security is a basic need for survival. It seems that people get just as upset about INACTION as they do about any actions that are being taken.

I think most people would agree with you, Beachnurse. I didn't get the impression anyone thinks we shouldn't try to capture terrorist leaders, just that we shouldn't get a false sense of security with it.

Thank you fergus. I really don't understand why everything has to be attacked on this board, especially when words are put into other's mouths.
