What happened to my Osama post?

  1. Just wondering what happened to my Osama post? If it offened someone, I put a warning in the message. If it was censored...then what ever happened to freedom of speech?...It was not derogatory to anyone other than Osama Bin Laden.

Someone found your post offensive and reported it to a Moderator and the Moderator decided to Move it so now only moderators can see it.

    BTW---I thought it was Hilarious!

I removed it. I understand that you placed a warning and all, but I don't think that it was appropriate for this website. Although, it is nice to give people a warning of possibly offensive material, it does not mean that you can post whatever they choose to on allnurses.com.

Our purpose for setting up a separate section for war discussion was not for posting offensive material, but rather for the allnurses.com users to talk with each other and share their viewpoints and help each other through this tough time.

We rarely censor or remove postings, but there are times were we use our judgment to keep the site as professional as it was intended to be. I agree that many people on this BB are easily offended and don't see the humor that is intended by others, but we try to balance things out.

    Thanks for your understanding.

by "balancing things out" you are restricting the freedom of speech that is sp precious to all many but obviously not to all. I did not racially or sexually slur or harass ayone with that post. It was POLITICALLY INCORRECT...welll EXCUSE me, but i find that thought of political correctness that you all seem to want as being offensive. That picture was my opinion and i guess my opinion does not matter since it is not the politically correct one....I guess the terrorists do win after all when we are afraid of other ideas or images.....

Remember, this is a private NURSING bulletin board. What one might post and discuss amoung family friends etc re all sorts of material might be considered innapropriate for a NURSING WEBSITE that is viewed internationally.

Additionaly once you post something, it can be viewed by all who visit here... removing/retracting is difficult to do. Posting of private life info is viewed by all and may come back to haunt you, so please post judiciously.

I thought it was very funny, even copied it. More so, I thought it was VERY unprofessional. I'm not so concerned about offending someone, but protecting the respect of the nursing profession is pretty high in terms of importance. As the previous posted stated, this is a NURSING board, and although much of what is said here is less than professional (yes, I've been guilty myself), this board is a direct reflection of nurses. Again, this site is easily accessed by anyone with desire to LEARN about nursing..this would include kids. So, don't be so offended. If you really want to express your freedom of speech, blow it up and post it in your front yard. THAT'S freedom of expression

    just MHO

I agree with others, I found it funny too, but just not appropriate on allnurses.com. Please remember that this is a moderated BB, and when anyone registers on this site it is clearly stated that:

"The owners of allnurses.com Nursing Bulletin Board have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason."

Please don't be offended by us exercising our policy that you agreed to when you registered.
