What did you do for Mother's Day?

  1. Happy Mother's Day Ya'll!!! Today I actually cooked Sunday dinner for my mother. We all (and I mean around 10) of us go to my parents house every Sunday after church for lunch. We are so spoiled! The only time she gets a break is when they go out of town.
so........today, I cooked......man was that fun. But to be honest.......my girls helped me out. I also got a 1/2 hr massage gift certificate.........that was nice.
And me and the girls (they are 20 and 15) left the men behind and went to the afternoon movies. "Daddy Daycare" and we had a ball.............Haven't had such a great time in I can't remember when......
so.........what did you do? or get?
    Anyway.......one more time......
HAPPY MOM"S DAY FROM SOUTH GEORGIA!:kiss

Well, DH went out for morning golf, and what I ahd hoped would be a nice day started clouding up and then came the rain.

So after hearing from both my kids and my sis, and calling my Mom.. I crawled back into bed figuring what the heck !

By the time hubby got home, it was starting to clear. He convinced me to throw on some dercent clothes and take a Sunday drive. I'm glad he was able to twist my arm.

We drove out on all the backroads through the countryside and stopped at all the greenhouses and country stores along the way. Picked out half a dozen or more flats of flowers for the flowerbeds he prepared this week, some hoop cheese, homemade walnut fudge, some REAL tomatoes ('maters here).. not the pinkish, hard STORE kind... some wonderful pears and a huge red pepper. The sun had come back out in full glory and a gentle breeze was blowing... it turned out to be a lovely day !

As it was also our anniversary, we stopped for dinner before heading home, and just took our time being "together".

    Was a great afternoon !

Spent the day out on our boat....a rare 70 degree sunny day In May in Seattle. Then, my wonderful dh grilled T-bones and boiled jumbo shrimp for dinner. So much nicer that waiting an hour or two to be seated in a restaurant someplace. I got two nice gift certs...one from Bath and Body Works and one from Barnes and Noble, my two fave places on Earth. YEA, Mothers' Day ROCKED for me!!!! Happy Mothers' Day, ya'll.

I spent the day studying for my final. I had a good day, nonetheless. My husband and kids went all out and made it very special. My ten year old gave me a homemade card that reads on the front:

    Magical
    Only mine
    Terrific
    Happy
    Excellent
    Ruler of the house

I got a kick out of the last one. My husband was not as enthusiastic

Spent the day on a picnic with my Mum & Dad Sister BIL and Kids - ate fish and chips (well I had fish and salad - see overweight nurses thread - sigh!) in a park by the river. Had great day - flew kites for the kids - I had a kite called the "worlds smallest kite" about 2 inches across - acted like a small dog on speed but everyone else in the park were laughing at it's antics - nice day no-one had to do any cooking or cleaning just played with the kids.

Woke up to a telephone call from my baby son (32) and his wife. Then had lunch with the other baby (35) and she got me a new electric frypan. I wondered why because my other one was ONLY 38 years old. Yes it was a Wedding present! It can finally retire. It's aluminum and with the Alzheimers connection I haven't used it in a while. Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms out there.

This has been the best mothers day I have ever had. My oldest son called me early this am, said he was coming to town to take me to lunch. He arrived with a dozen roses. He also brought a very sweet young lady, for us to meet. My husband, daughter and two sons ( and one lovely young lady) had a very pleasant lunch and visit. This afternoon, we traveled to my mom and dads and worked on their yard. My daughter brought over a hanging basket for my back yard. My hubby and young son gave me a bird house and a bird feeder, both in the shape of lighthouses. They also gave me a rock(I am a rock nut) that said "welcome to my garden on it." Yup, the best mothers day I have ever had. My family is well.......and all seemed so happy.

Worked last night, so I came home and slept most of the day. Real exciting I know. But then the family took me out to dinner, so it wasn't an entire waste. Got the flowers, a 2 foot high card, the kisses and hugs and that was worth it all! At least I know I'm appreciated for being their mom...Ya gotta love em all!

Great weekend here: 14yo "Chef Joe" cooked lunch yesterday (sausage and fried potaoes) and breakfast today: Scratch cheese biscuits, bacon and eggs; 17yo brother made Sauted onions and cheese pierogies for breakfast for me.
After church saw a patient for 20 min daily wd care (subed all week), stopped at Boarders and was able to get the book Mom wanted--told me last night. My family visited at parents in afternoon: SURPRISE, baby brother up from Virginia--got a kiss and hug from him and wife.
Hubby and kids took me to dinner at Newport Grill---LOVE their Crab cakes. The men bought me writing paper, door wreath and dwarf Liliac Bush---just what I wanted. Storm held off so nice relaxing day!

Happy Mothers Day to one and all!

I worked 12 hours and it was my birthday on top of it all. When I got home there were cards waiting for me on the table. They were not hand delivered- I was just informed that they were there. Remind me again why I bust my hump for these people.
