What are your bad health habits?

  1. How would you finish this sentence?

    "As a nurse, I should know better, but I still..."

    For example: As a nurse, I should know better, but I still get a tan in the summer. I'm an LPN going for my RN and I know all about the risks of sun cancer and how a tan is actually a sign of damage to my skin, blah blah blah. I don't spend a lot of time sun worshipping (who has time?) but I use sun tan lotion instead of sun block on myself, just so I don't blind people with my pasty white winter skin.

    I also don't wear a helmet when riding my bike. I always make my kids wear one, but I haven't gotten around to buying myself one yet.

    "as a nurse i should no better, but i still......eat junk food when watching television at night.....and still ask myself why it is so hard to lose weight, and still awaken with heartburn. i have noone to blame but myself.:stone

    As a nurse, I should know better, but I still don't exercise ( I would rather sit and read a book or watch TV) and I still eat junk food...

    I'm another one who feels guilty about tanning.......I KNOW I shouldn't do it, but I look and feel healthier with that bronzed glow! Not to mention the fact that here in Oregon where fish-belly white is the rule rather than the exception, it doesn't take a lot of sun to accomplish a comparatively deep tan.......I don't get anywhere near as dark as I did in California, though. When I visited my old stomping grounds back in 2000, I came back with a tan so deep that I stood out like a sore thumb for months, but here all I can manage is a medium brown that fades within weeks. And I don't "fake and bake".....although there are times during the long, gray winter months when I feel I'll go crazy if I go without seeing the sun for one more day, and the tanning booths are so tempting!

    I'm a nibbler -- snacking is my downfall -- who snacks on really good for you stuff? I do the fruit and veggie snacks sometimes, but most often it is a chocolate, cookie, chip or candy snack --:uhoh21:

    Eating BAD foods. I used to be so good and then fell into bad habits. I need to really get back on track again!

    I smoke, drink, sunbathe, ride a bike with no helmet on, eat anything want (I weigh 135 lbs @ 5"10) and I just caught myself using the mix master with the cord sitting in a pan of water. :imbar

    Being chronically sleep deprived is probably the worst thing I do to myself. Drink gallons of coffee. Stress overeating.

    Don't exercise - Its so much more fun to sit at the computer and, despite high cholesterol, don't eat as well as I should.
