Wellness/Fitness thread for 6/15-03

  1. All the supportive pep talks are great! There is nothing that a little motivational talk can help...usually.

    Jnette brought up an excellent point. Once you start to exercise or work out, you look forward to it. It is an invigorating ritual and it seems to make everything right with the world. And if you don't get to do your little exercise/workout ritual, you feel like something is amiss.

    Slow and steady does it to start or restart. Walking is such a marvelous way to begin. There is no right or wrong way, you can go at your own pace, listen to music or walk in companionable silence with the great outdoors. You can walk inside on a tread mill and read while you walk or you can walk outside....on a track or in the woods or even on the pavement. It's your choice and you can make it personal so that you want to stay with it. Ease into activity and as you become more accustom to the exercise, vary the incline or terraine...change the type of music you listen to or put on a music channel on the tele instead of read.....challenge your self.

    Here is another breakfast smoothie that we tried today and (shock and amazement) the hubby, whom despises yogurt, liked it hehehehe! Boy was he surprised when I said it had yogurt in it!!

    It is refreshing and tastey and perfect for this time of year when the strawberry season is starting to get into full swing:

    Sunrise Shake

    In a blender, combine 1 banana, 1/2 cup halved strawberries, 1/2 cup orange juice (I give it an extra calcium boost with fortified OJ) and 1 cup nonfat yogurt (I used vanilla); puree until smooth.

    313 cal, 1g fat, 64g carbs, 16g protein, 5g fiber.

    Untamed...see the other thread you started (6/14)...can you believe it...we posted the same smoothie receipe...well..almost..but, a bit strange..since I was posting on a different thread & you were posting on this thread!

    Sounds delish!

    Keep up the good work. Did aerobics at the gym this AM. Going back this next AM for weights and more aerobics, yoga class is tomorrow night.

    No junk for two days!!!!

    I've been walking almost daily, about 2-3 miles,and lost about 10 lbs. so far. I'm going to increase my distance this week!

    Good for you Telenurse!! Yea! I walk also, I do enjoy it. Like Tae Bo too!
