    The bike's coming out this morning . Even those of you who have kids may be able to get in your morning exercise by getting up just a little earlier. Ever notice how you get so much more done when everyone else in the house is gone or asleep? All you need is 20-30 minutes. Try this tip I read in a book for folks that aren't natural early risers (whether early for you is 5 am or 4 pm: Set two alarms, one in your bedroom, one in the bathroom. Leave your workout clothes next to the one on the bathroom. Jump into it before you can wake up enough talk yourself out of it! Your body responds well to new habits given a little time. Try this a few mornings and keep reminding yourself how good it feels when you're done knowing you've devoted time to yourself first thing. You are worth it!!

    Another of our breakfast recipes follows. Is anyone making an effort to eat breakfast who didn't before? It really does get your motor running. We sabotage our efforts if we don't eat after waking up; our after-sleep metabolism doesn't really start *until* we eat.


    Mix together:

    1 1/2 cups oatmeal
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg

    In separate bowl, mix together:

    1 egg white
    1 or 2 old bananas
    1 Tbsp. honey
    1 to 2 cups nonfat milk (to consistency)
    1/2 cup raisins

    Combine wet and dry ingredients, mix thoroughly. Cook as usual pancakes.

    just finished doing my pilates and bought a new yoga tape and hope to try that one out tomorrow. Today i have to get my yard mowed and that definitly will take some myo movement.I'm feeling better everyday though and really beginning to tone up

    I'm taking my first day off of weights, running, or both after 9 days in a row. I'm working the first of three 12 hour night shifts tonight and am anxious about it and feel like I need to conserve energy. The gym bag will be waiting in the car for the morning if I'm not completely exhausted. It was only a few months ago when I was working FT nights and would go directly to the gym from work most mornings. This only worked if the gym bag was in the car though. If I had to go home first I'd stay there.

    Can't do mornings I'm still doing my 2 miles alternating running and power walking. Guess I really should start to eat breakfast too. Old habits are hard to break

    Definately had my workout at work today... ran all day long... up and down the stairs to the basement, carrying up box after box of saline (12 per box), 20 lb. bicarb bags, and other supplies. Carried all the acid and bicarb jugs all day long (30 lbs. each) plus filled and carried more up from the basement as well. Plus my nursing duties on top of that !

    Today was my "off day" from weights anyway..only do them every other day to allow the muscle time to grow... but I'll be up bright and early tomorrow a.m. (I'm off.. huraaay !) and will hit the weights. Then mow the yard.. got rained out the other day, so it's a MUST for tomorrow!

    I'm definately a morning person... up at 0600 on my days off. I hate to miss ANY of my free time !!! Not a breakfast person, though. Just cant stomach anything until about 10 am. Even then it has to be something light. Those pancakes DO sound yummy, though ! Brunch?
