Wellness/Fitness thread 4/21/03

  1. Good morning!

Went out jogging late last evening with hubby. Legs hurt much less this morning than after previous outings of this sort - must be building up some (what are those - muscles?!? - not me!) It's actually time to get some new sneakers. Have squashed these pretty well flat. Might consider taking a look at your own sneakers - is it time to retire them and maybe reward yourself with a new pair to celebrate your new committment to activity? Beats "rewarding" ourselves with a trip to Dairy Queen lol.

Many of us may have taken the day off yesterday to celebrate with family. Today's the day to jump back on the health bandwagon. And put the kids' Easter candy out of sight! .

Do you have your water in front of you? I've taken to having a big cup of herbal tea in the morning.

    Breakfast recipe ideas continued:

    Breakfast drink:

    1 cup orange juice
    1 large banana
    2 T non-fat milk powder

Place all ingredients in a blender and mix on high for about 30 seconds. Can add a few ice cubes or blend the banana frozen (it's how I salvage those bananas that have gotten overripe and are just going to be pitched otherwise.) One could also include
ingredients such as one half a peeled apple, a shake of wheat germ. This is a great way to get 2-3 servings of fruit first thing in the morning .

Have a great day! Don't forget to check in with us. You are accountable only to yourself, but we are here to support each other .

"A successful individual typically sets his next goal somewhat but not too much above his last achievement. In this way he steadily raises his level of aspiration."

    - Kurt Lewin (1890 - 1947)

This is true in exercising. Do a little more than you did yesterday. Raise the level of expectation you have for yourself! You can do it .

Yep. Yesterday was my "day off". Ate a lot of good food, but not to the point of popping, which is a good thing. Back on the weight watcher wagon today, though!

I was pleasently surprised this weekend. I took a 2 mile hike through the woods at our local reserve with my husband, brother-in-law & his two kids. Lots of hills, etc. Beautiful views & the weather was perfect. I made it through the whole hike & wasn't even breathing hard. Very different from last year when I walked the same path & felt like I was going to DIE by the time I was halfway through! Felt good to have made that much progress fitness-wise!

    AmyLiz that is awesome!

Haven't done anything today. Going to the gym tonight in the wee hours of the morning.

Going for my weekly bowling night tonight.

I didn't exercise yesterday, but also didn't eat anything too unhealthy, just a couple of sandwiches. I had very little of my kid's candy (yeah, for me cause they are peanut M&M's and I love em). I am hoping to jump on my bike today, but may not because I have to study for a few tests.

OK.. did full body weighttraining yesterday.. gotta give the muscles a day to "grow", so won't do that today..every other day. The off day is a good one to hit the treadmill.. might do that yet before I retire for the night.

It's just really hard to treadmill after you've been running your legs off since 0400... but I do need the aerobic part in there somewhere... Gotta do it ! This thread really does get me motivated.. if you have to "check in" and let others know how you're doing, you've got to be DOING something, right? It helps !
    Great idea, this thread.

I'm @ 8 days straight of weights, running 3-4 miles, or both. I've got the motivating factor of turning 30 in less than 2 months. I'm determined to get into some semblence of "shape" by then.
