Another beautiful day. Hubby and I went to the gym quite late last evening and I find I am better able to tolerate (read: force myself to go) at that hour. One of my favorite machines to use is the stairclimber - they have one of the originals that is literally 8 steps rolling around an axis and you cannot cheat. (For example, when you see people leaning over a stepper or holding themselves up with their arms, they are really actually decreasing the workload and shortchanging their efforts.) Whatever you choose to do, think of the best form to maximize your results. Even walking - is your head up, abs tight? Give yourself every opportunity to benefit from the time you are choosing to devote to your good health.
Thought about how we can start off the day with good intentions, and it may just go to pot from there. That's one main reason I prefer to exercise first thing - just in case I lose total control of my day lol. It's also a great reason to eat a healthy breakfast.
Here's a great way to get your oatmeal when it's too hot to cook oatmeal. The next week's recipes will be focusing on breakfast (whenever your breakfast time may be
2 cups oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
2 cups apple juice or apricot nectar
1-1/2 cups sliced fresh fruit (any combination of banana, peaches, nectarines or strawberries)
One 8-ounce carton vanilla low-fat yogurt (I use nonfat with fine results)
2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional)
Combine all ingredients except nuts; mix well.
Cover; refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
Serve cold; sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Refrigerate in airtight container up to 4 days.
Don't forget your water as you are sitting here.
Enjoy your day no matter what you are doing. The plan here is to be off to work shortly, so I'll see you all this afternoon. Be good to yourselves!
