Warning RE: Paypal

  1. I've never started my own thread before, so please be patient. I felt it is necessary though. We do the yahoo auctions and use paypal. He received an email yesterday stating it was from paypal. It asked him to fill in his name, account number and his password. DO NOT FILL IT OUT!!!! This is a scam. My husband called paypal when he got the email. They said to forward it to them and not to fill it out. It kinda freaked him because it says they will close his account if he does not fill it out. Just wanted to warn everyone! Be safe! I hate scammers.

I thought what happened to that person, can't remember the name, but I thought that someone had just taken money out of their account. I had never read that she had gotten a form like this.

You're referring to Peeps McArthur, who lost about $2000 (electronically) from his bank account by internet fraud involving PayPal.

Thanks. I sometimes get emails from "ebay" that asks to update my files with credit card and all, and I definately delete that one. I use paypal all the time to pay for ebay stuff and I look out for that one.

I got an email supposedly from eBay asking me to "verify" my I.D and password. I did...
Unfortunately, it turned out to be someone in Spain, using my pos feedback record to run fraudulent auctions and rip people off. eBay caught the person, deleted the auctions and informed me. It's all cleared up. But I learned NEVER to answer an email asking for that info!

Since then, I got another email asking for the same info. I told the person that my eBay ID is a four letter word that starts w/ F, and that my password is a three letter word that starts w/ Y.

I have not heard from them again.

Now, I'm getting these fake PayPal emails.

It's a crooked world out there.
Do not give them any info.
