War with Syria/Russia?

  1. I listened to the VP debate. Both Mike Pence and Tim Kaine agreed that the United States needs to actively do more.
Then today I saw the article/opinion piece linked below. What do you think?
I'm not even informed enough to determine whether the "facts" presented are accurate. I usually look for sources other than those provided by the author, but don't have time today.
As with the Nursing Process (The scientific method tailored for nursing) data collection is just the beginning.
Dangerous New ‘Group Think’ for War with Syria/Russia
Official Washington has a new 'group think' that is even more dangerous than the one that led to the Iraq War. This one calls for U.S. escalation of conflicts against Syria and nuclear-armed Russia...

It is a dangerous game that our leaders are playing in Syria. The Syrian government and opposition forces are just pawns for Russia and the US. Every new accidental bombing or shooting down of aircraft brings us closer to face to face confrontation. It is sad that so many innocent lives are being lost due to this brinksmanship.

From what I know the piece is SPOT ON!

We have been fighting proxy wars all over the world for decades, if not centuries. I am all for humanitarian relieft but no weapons.

So sad. Syria wouldn't be in the state it's in if we hadn't gone into Iraq in the first place. This is all our fault. But the last thing we need is another proxy war with Russia. What a mess.

I disagree. It was the refusal to allow weapons that resulted in the un-armed Bosniana being massacred by the Christian Serbs.

Generally speaking and based on previous posts, we seem to mostly agree that intervening in other countries' affairs doesn't give us a good name around the globe. Weapons are our biggest export and at various times we've armed the Taliban, the Northern Alliance, the Afghan Army, the precursor to ISIS, the Syrian Army, the Syrian rebels, Hezbollah, the IDF, Iran (and by proxy, the Contras of Nicaragua)....I mean, the list goes on. That's just the Middle east and Central Asia. God knows we've done it on at least four other continents. It seems we generally have a hard time distinguishing who exactly are the good guys.

I am less familiar with the Balkan conflict than you since you were there and I was not but since the past predicts the future I would be very very shocked to find that US weapons were in no way involved in that conflict except when used by NATO/peacekeeping troops. I am always willing to learn more and if you have reading suggestions I am open to them.

So as a general rule....I stand by my statement that the world is better off when US weapons are kept out of the equation.

Syria is Iraq 2.0 ( and Yemen is Iraq 3.0 )

Syria: This is war for control of the European oil market. It is currently supplied by Russia and they do not want to give that up. Rightly so, their economy almost collapsed in 08 as well.

Russia was INVITED by democratically elected President Assad to defeat the Syrian rebels who are heavily armed by the CIA and Saudi.

Congrats Obama for killing thousands with drone strikes. He is a war criminal. The US gave 10 million to the so called white hats who bomb neighborhoods and then take pictures of injured children to validate the candidate beating the drums for war. I'm not sending my family off to kill people for the Saudis and the US war machine.

Clinton wants a "No Fly Zone" (Trump wants to "work it out with Russia.")

THAT MEANS SHOOTING DOWN RUSSIAN AND SYRIAN PLANES. PLUS 70,000 troops in Syria. It means war with Syria Russia and their allies, China and North Korea. THIS IS WHY THE US MILITARY SUPPORTS TRUMP.

If anyone is interested, I can provide factual objective sources. It's not on cable news. Their priority is who is a pussygrabber and who's dickin bimbos , Miss Universe and who called whose voters taco bowl deplorables etc.

Women are well aware of America's shortcomings on issues of diplomacy and state. They do not need a Bernie Bro to pretend it's all about identity politics. Males have been susceptible to identity politics for some 230 years or more now.

Obama has seemed to want to work it out with Russia too. Trump wants to kiss his ass. Did you vote for him?

My advice if you want to be received well on a mostly female forum is not to behave in this manner.

Frankly, Trump supporters are far more civil and better informed. Good job democrats, you've united Trump people, Berners and Greens who see that we are truly on the precipice of world War 3.

The topic is the Syria War. That's the real obscenity.

If you dig deeper, and you should, you will find that Obama suspended ALL diplomatic relations with Russia two weeks ago.

I have zero interest in Trump's boy bragging from 10 years ago. Sure, he's a lech, but Slick Willie should be a registered sex offender.

There is absolutely no substantive evidence of Russia's involvement in hacking for wikileaks though Clinton just validated them again in the debate.

Its all a ruse for us to declare a no fly zone, go to war in Syria in order to cover up US arms deals and war crimes in Syria and Yemen. Iran is next. The U.S. has no idea as to the enormity of the shithole that we are in.

I have zero interest in a Bernie Bro after I spent time off from a 12 hour shift voting for Bernie after having registered as a democrat in my state against my interests otherwise I couldn't. I had to attend a caucus. I have no interest in a a Bernie Bro who wants to demean women like me who spent $27 month after month come back to this forum and come back with crap that demeans women.

"Progressive Activist" should realize I was born in a nation who elected a woman as Premier when I was aged 7 in the 1970's. My second nation Ireland elected a female president in 1990 (or there abouts) I'm 44 now. I'm sick to EFF of idiot American males who come up with stupid third world arguments in a first world nation. Really I am.
