Oh come on . . .
Give us on the other side of the political spectrum the same chance y'all had at bashing President Bush into the ground. Lord, I've read so many diatribes against President Bush and his service in the National Guard, and how he went AWOL (HE DIDN'T) and about how stupid he supposedly is and about how he wants to rape the environment and hates the little guy, and is taking away his overtime, and only wants to help his buddies, the big oil companies, . . .and on and on and on . . .
The dialogue was not just suddenly lowered . . . . . we've been in this mode for months in attacking President Bush's credibilily.
Just because someone is a Democrat does not mean he is above suspicion or that he may not be beholden to special interests . . . John Kerry is a politician above all for goodness sake.
It is ok to question politicians, no matter what party they belong to. And Democrats are not above making bad decisions. They are not perfect. No one is perfect.
Cut us some slack . . . . we've certainly been reading enough of y'all's side of the issues for some time now. Give us a chance.
Wow, Steph. Excellent post, and I really do agree with what you say here.
I know I have jumped on the Bushbashing bandwagon myself... not even so much beacuse he's republican as much as just a very strong personal distaste
for the man. I was certainly willing to give him a chance after the last election, but as the past four years progressed, the more disappointed I was, and the greater my disgust and distrust grew.
However, that's NOT to say that other candidates are absolved of any wrongdoing. I agree that ALL politicians (all HUMAN) are every bit as capable of deception and lies and broken promises.
While I'm no true Kerry fan... I don't quite trust him, either... I'm just hoping against hope things might change for the better. So yes, Kerry should be every bit as open to criticizm.. as should all candidates. Personally, I'd have far preferred Edwards, but it was not to be.
And yes... you HAVE been exposed to our outrage and whining for some time now... and you DO deserve to be cut some slack. Your views and perspective ARE important, and believe it or not, I DO read carefully and mindfully what you post... I'm always ready and willing to learn something.
