Venting--my car was towed

  1. Sometimes I really hate Philly-- today my car and my fiance's car was towed outside of our apartment. There is hardly anyplace to park, so we parked in a lot of a restaurant beside our complex-- there were signs posted by the parking spots but not on the side of the lot, which is where we parked. Well, we were towed-- $210 for each car! We had to go pick up the cars in this dark dirt lot and give the guy cash-- there was no office or anything, he pulled up in his tow truck and looked really shady-- talk about ghetto!! As soon as our lease is up we are moving to the burbs....

Now is this your NEW car or the one you have been wanting to get rid of anyway?
Are you sure it's legal for anyone with a tow truck to just go around and impounding cars??
How would He like it if someone towed HIS mighty tow truck??
    That SCUM!!
We need to plot our revenge!!
    YEAH!
Lets tow his truck someplace FAR! (Puff-Puff)
    Like FARGO!!
    I'm on my way Emerald!!
    He will PAY!! (ARRGH!! ARGH!!)

Maybe your landlord is getting a kickback from all of his/her tenants' whose cars are towed because of inadequate parking.

I'd speak to someone about this, definitely. Its not your fault that you, as a legal, rent-paying tenant, have no place to park your car. Tenants have a boatload of rights. Ask anyone who's ever tried to evict one.

Thanks guys, you cheer me up! Rusty, this is my POS 1989 Dodge that I have been wanting to get rid of... for $210, maybe I just should have left it there, lol. And delirium, there's street parking by my apartment, but it is always full, hence why I parked in the lot. There is garage parking available, but it is $50/mo. and it is just not worth it with my ancient crappy car-- if I had a new car I would definitely pay for the parking. Our lease is up in August, I think we are moving a little farther away from the city, it will be worth the commute.

I got a ticket at school today. Our tech school rents the back half of the parking lot to the UW....got to school today, and NO parking spots... They increased all programs, so the place is just mobbed. I had to park 2 spots into UW parking and came back to find a $20 ticket on my car. I told my friend if I got ticketed, I was going to shove it up their a*s....guess where I'm going today???

I would complain about the towing thing. That is just unreal....

I got towed one time when my car slid into a ditch on the side of an interstate in a snowstorm. For 2 hours no police stopped to help me, but in the 1 hr. between getting a ride to my home and going back with a truck and chain, it was impounded. To make matters worse, of course it was cash only payment, and as it was New Year's Day, I had to go to 4 (!) different ATMs before I found one that still had money in it!

I got ticketed one time when I made a hospice visit. The only place to park was one spot on the side of the street that was due to be cleaned. Because it was in a not so great neighborhood, I parked there.

Well, was I peeved when I saw the ticket. Fortunately for me, the pt son was an attorney, and he called and raised hell with the city, so they voided the ticket...it pays to have connections sometimes.

Well, it sucks that you'd have to pay for parking when you probably already pay too much to rent. I mean, it's standard at any apartment complex that there is usually enough parking for 2 cars per every dwelling.

But anyhoo...... with your fines you could have paid for 8 months of parking.

Either way, it sucks. I'm SO sure that money could have been used for better things. When's your lease up?

Which is why we live in the country and if there isn't enough parking... park in the yard.
