vacation/sick time

  1. hey all. we were discussing our benes at work and how much time off we get per year. i think i have it pretty good (depends on years put in). just curious what others vacation/sick time is. i have been at my facility 12 yrs and i get over six weeks cal(vacation) time and around 80 hours of extended illness. if i call in sick, the first 16 hrs comes from cal bank, then additional time from eib. i actually acrue(sp?) 11. something hrs of cal every pay period and 3.something hours of eib(extended illness bank) every pay period. pay period is every two weeks. i rarely call sick so it adds to my vacation time. you can sell cal time once a year(only if you can show a hardship). i think you shouldn't have to show a hardship, it is earned time. anyway, if you have more than 320 cal hours in the bank on the anniversary date of your hire you will lose it. once your eib gets to (i think) 700,some or all that you acrue each pay period goes to your cal time. so, what is your vacation/sick package????

I get 30 days a year to take as sick or vacation, however I choose. I don't call in sick hardly at all. I usually take two 3-week vacations a year.

I have 400 hours to take as sick time if an extended illness pops up.

I think I'd be sorely tempted to say that "casual" means just that, and I'd be taking my vacation then. Period.

(I'm betting you work a holiday roation despite being "casual.")

We have to work one minor (4th of July, Mem Day, Labor Day) and one major (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day). Of course I signed up for Thanksgiving....

I was told that I would have to wait until the schedule came out to know if I got the time off. That would give me <1 month to plan and make reservations....

My best friend is about ready to kill me....:stone

I think that job would be a little too casual for me. I'm sure there's others out there so why not make your plans and go?

Yeah Kristy. "Casual" shouldn't mean they automatically plug you in where they need you, but rather they ask you if you can help out at that time. That's what it means where I am anyways. Do lots of places do it like that?

My other job I only worked EOW, so I don't know. I was told this one was one weekend permonth, yet we get scheduled EOW just like the others.

I BETTER get the time off. This is my graduation gift to myself...
