As you all probably know if you go into "User cp" of this bulletin board and search a little deeper, you can activate or de-activate the "Invisible Mode". If it's turned off, this enables other bulletin board members to know if you're "on-line" allnurses.com.
When I first started using this bulletin board, I usually kept it "On" so that no one would know I'm lurking about. (I do a lot of lurking. . . call me "The Happy Lurker"!). Then I started turning off this function so that people would know I'm around. . . a warning, I guess. . . . "Oh no! Here's Ted! Quick! Run away!"
Then I'd turn it on and off for whatever reason. Used to turn it on . . . months ago. . . to lurk about the "W/T forum" especially when really HOT debates were happening.
After a while, I said to myself. . . ."Self! Just keep the stupid 'Invisible Mode' off so that people can see your lurking about. They probably don't give a darn anyhow!"
Since that revelation, I've kept it off.
Every now and then I see that I'm in a particular forum. I notice that my name is the only one showing up on the "who's here now" thingy. Then I see a post magically appear. Sometimes catches me by surprise. Then I say to myself. . . ."Self! That person had their 'Invisible Mode' activated!"
And I go on my merry way.
I can be very merry sometimes.
Not all the time, though.
Soooooo . . . . .
I'm sitting here wondering. Should be paying the bills and purchasing father-day's cards, but I'm sitting here wondering:
Why do people activate or de-activate their 'Invisible Mode' thingy?!?!?!?!?!?
I know that in the long run, it's none of my freakin' business. But call me "Curious George". Actually, call me "Curious Ted".
Just call me.
Call me for dinner, please!
Why do you keep your "Invisible Mode" on? Or off?
With only the most heart-felt respect to you all . . . .
