Hello to all my cyber-friends at allnurses.com!
First please let me say thank you to you all. For the past several months that I have spent on bedrest and then hospitalized, you all have been a great source of support and encouragement to me and it has really helped me to make it through this ordeal.
And now for the news of the past couple days....My little bundle of joy arrived on March 15, 2003 after an emergency C-section. I began bleeding again very heavily, and he just had to come out at this time. He's doing very well, and in the NICU here. Click here to see my wonderful little BABY GAGE
Anyway, he was intubated for a little while after birth but was able to be extubated today, and they started some feedings per NG with him today as well. It all seems very surreal to me at this point still. When I go down to the NICU to see him, it just doesn't all feel real yet. I think that is partly because I had to be under general anesthesia when he was born rather than having a spinal block, so things just don't seem like they really happened to me.
I've tried to write this message at least half a dozen times here today, but I keep falling asleep in front of the laptop. I still feel very weak. At least my hemoglobin is back on the climb (now up to 8.1 from a low of 7.9 yesterday). Hoping to start feeling a little better soon here.
Thanks to you all for listening and caring.
