Unpierceable navel??

  1. So, I FINALLY worked up the guts to go get my navel pierced only to have the piercer tell me that I have an "unpierceable navel"! He said it was likely to grow out because the edges of my navel come together a little when I sit down. I was suprised to hear this because I have a flat tummy and I've never heard of anyone being turned away from a piercing before! Has anyone else ever had this problem? Should I get a second opinion?

After I had my navel pierced, a friend decided she wanted to get hers done. But the piercer also told her she couldn't get it done. Something about her belly button not being deep enough.

go to http://www.bmezine.com/ It's the body modification e-zine-lots of info there and if your belly button really is a no-go there are lots of other spots to pierce...they'll tell you all bout them on the site....:wink2:

Aw, same thing happened to me last week (I found this through a search for "unpiercable navels"). It's a huge bummer. I finally worked up the nerve to do it after 12 years, but the piercer would not do it. Unfortunately, both my sister and I were blessed with "outies". I was told the jewelry would most likely migrate out and I would just end up with a big scar. My sister had her's done in the 90's when the piercing was rather new and not as popular as it is today and the ended up with an infection and migration. I got something else pierced instead, but I still love the look of navel piercings. I was thinking about doing a surface piercing to my abdomen near my navel, but finding a piercer to do a surface piercing is rather difficult do to the risks of failure. At least we can be grateful that we had honest body piercers who were looking out for us instead of someone who would charge us $50 and us end up with an ugly scar
