i was kind of wondering that myself. I mean he is the leader of the free world, i think he can get up and go potty when he wants without permission. May be kind of weird but it isn't really relevant news.
Yeah, well it gives Bush haters yet another opportunity to take a potshot at him, which is exactly why it was made news no doubt.

Maybe it was just a polite thing to do, I don't know just letting someone know where you are going. I remember passing a similar note to a fellow student (friend) during a lecture, she later let me know what I missed during the lecture.

Of course the press might not understand something as simple as being polite. They are looking for anything to arouse suspicion. :chuckle
This post kind of makes the point of why the note was so ridiculous. I think lots of us remember passing notes like this in school. I'd prefer that the behavior of the President of the United States didn't draw comparison to the behavior of schoogirls myself.

    That's interesting because
Online, some accused Reuters, and the media in general, of being insulting or juvenile. http://www.pdnonline.com/pdn/newswir..._id=1001137642

A source at the Washington Post tells E&P that the paper is considering it for prominent play tomorrow morning, in the context that, at least in some minds, it raises questions about overall perception of the U.S. at the United Nations, right or wrong. Reuters reports extremely strong interest in the photo today.

The fact is, according to Reuters -- and this has not been widely reported -- President Bush did indeed take a bathroom break after passing the note to Rice.

This apparently raised some eyebrows around the room, because American representatives (among others) have a reputation for suddenly bolting, though normally for a far different reason than this latest one. Fair or not, the European press has already had a field day with the photo, often centering on the notion that Bush had to ask Rice for permission.

Oh my, he actually used the restroom? Maybe the UN should consider a security council ban against being human. . .

The UN is a scandal ridden, free loading, America bashing, vacation home to the elitists of the World.

I don't much care about their 'perceptions' of the US. My 'perceptions' of the UN completely obliterates my concern for their mindless vaccilations.

The World's problem with Bush is not that they don't respect him. THEY DO RESPECT HIM, as grudgingly as need be. They just wished America had a weaker leader that would kow-tow to them, ala John Kerry. Their disdain for Bush is centered upon jealousy and the fear of a strong America - exactly the opposite of lack of respect.
