Ummmm Comfort Food

  1. So here I am again up in the middle of the night. I'm supposed to be on holidays dammit! Can't seem to get out of this sleep during the day cycle. Sitting here eating organic cereal with vanilla flavored soy milk. What happened to food all of a sudden?

Love Fritos with horseradish/bacon dip! Also love, of course, chocolate and:
    Blueberry pie
    Sushi
    Chicken Marsala
    Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries
Pizza (without anchovies . . . or saurkraut!)
    Hot dogs and hamburgers
    Wheaties
    Tuna fish sandwiches

I find all of these foods, plus a lot more, to be quite comfortable!!!

My grandmother was a nurse....and I blame my eating habits on her! Whenever I was sick, she'd tell me to eat whatever I wanted, whether it was an ice cream sunday at 6 am, or cookies and tea. Her idea was that at least you were getting something in your tummy and you were more likely to eat foods you liked. I still follow that rule. I do try to eat healthier. Not always succeeding. My comfort foods? Ripple chips and onion dip. Nacho chips and salsa. Cheesecake....my hips are expanding at just the thought!

Favorite new comfort food -- I adapted/invented this recipe myself. Love it plain, frozen in a pie crust, as a topping over pound cake. I usually double the recipe. This is soooo good/easy & relatively healthy. Do not call this YELLOW STUFF!!!!! Tastes like a pina colada!

    Mix together:
one 8-oz fat- free cool whip, thawed
    three low-fat lemon yogurts
one small sugar-free lemon jello (dry)
one large can drained, pineapple tidbits (packed in juice)
    1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/8 tsp rum extract (if desired)

    Enjoy this one! Sue

    1. A big bowl of pasta with Italian sausage, bread and olive oil, a glass of Bordolino, and a salad.

    AND/or

    2. Meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes and lemony broccoli. Oh! And a Jack and coke.

I miss icecream! Can't eat it, lactose intollerant. Soy ice cream sucks.

    Comfort food:
    - Spagetti (sp?) with meat sauce like I had when I was little
    - My mother's mashed potatoes
    - Soup, especially my grandmother's turky or beef
    - Gradmother's recipe from the old country (Slovak) have no idea how to spell it -- "oh muchka and shishki" (thick tomato sauce with dumplings)

Ok, I have gained 10lbs just reading this thread..................

Beef Stroganoff...........can't make it, since no one but me in the house likes it...so Stouffer's is the best out there

    Chicken Ala king with rice

Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting

Butter pecan ice cream (only the exspensive brands of course, lol)

    Ruffles Cheddar potato chips

Now, having posted all my faves.............I can't eat a flipp'n one of them, thanks to my low carb diet............

And as for the soy stuff, uh huh, yep..............really sux........though the milk is ok, and the chocolate soy milk tastes pretty good too (heehee, ok, so I cheat a lil with the chocolate soymilk)
