Umm Coffee!

  1. Please indulge me. Lets talk about my favorite subject. What kind do you drink. What's your limit. How do you like yours? When was the best damn coffee you've ever had? Where is your favorite coffee spot. How infiltrated by Starbucks is your city?

I LOVE TO SMELL A FRESH POT OF COFFEE PERKING IN SOMEONE'S HOME, OR IN THE WORK PLACE, OR IN A GROCERY STORE WHEN I'M SHOPPING.....BUT CAN'T DRINK IT. YOU SEE....I TRIED IT ONCE AND THREW UP....MY INSIDES ALMOST CAME WITH IT....I'VE BEEN SCARED TO SWALLOW ANOTHER SIP SINCE THEN.

This one coffee shop ... Cafe Coco has blueberry coffee. Put some cream & sugar (Ok, I use the fake sugar) and Yumm!

Actually I usually drink the breakfast blend as Alpine doesn't carry the blueberry. And I only drink coffee on lecture days.

If it weren't for coffee and ice cream (coffee ice cream at that), I'd have essentially no fluid intake.
There's only one Starbucks here, but there are at least 5 other coffee shops in the area. One I'm particularly fond of is the Village Coffee House, nice place to go hang out.
Speaking of Starbuck's ...have you tried those little cans of espresso and cream mix. MMMMmmmm.

When we moved I said I could only bare staying in this city if we lived in the artsy section of town. I am 2 blocks from Central Avenue (the old rt 66) and on my morning stroll (when I take one) I can meet professors from the nearby college, students, artists, prostitutes, hustlers and everyone in between!
The coffee shop is just 2 blocks away from house! On the same block is the artsy theater, alternative video store, new age gift shops, jazz clubs and more coffee shops! During the summer when I am outside I can hear the music from the jazz clubs down the street beckoning me to come...
Come.... drink $4. coffee and eat a $5. slice of double chocoloate cake, (Where's Heather when I need her)
Comeeee... listen to jazz bye candles & incense sticks...Cooooommmmee
(so what's a guy to do?) When they say come I come!
The name of the coffee shop that most everyone goes to is called Flying Star, use to be Double Rainbow but they had to change the name (another double rainbow somewhere) We also have Starbucks, (hmmmm sounds sort of familiar) but not in my area, so I prefer Flying Star, the original to where I am.

What about at the Century Theaters... OMG! They have some of the best coffee and cakes too!

Okay here's another thing I do...
When I can't go to the expensive coffee shops I make some STRONG coffee, add a package of instant hot coco mix, top it with a little vanilla ice cream!
    Very good stuff!
I make it for my patient sometimes too and they love it!

Am NOT a coffee person, even if it SMELLS GREAT!!

HOWEVER, have come to LOVE the local Peabody's Coffee (or Grounds For Enjoyment) chain around here: the Decaf Skinny Mocha (maybe with a little extra chocolate????) -- or, as the servers call it, a WHY BOTHER MOCHA. One per day, if that. Sorry, don't do caffeine (well, except in chocolate ), and gotta try to cut down the fat wherever possible; I'm afraid if I get used to the whole milk mocha, I'll never go back to the nonfat, so I've just gotten used to the nonfat.
Have tried Starbucks' version and it's too bitter for me. Yuk. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone. Just personal tastes.

Grew up w/Mom making coffee first thing every a.m., the smell, as mentioned above, is SO YES! Taste is SO NO!
    Signing off, --- D

I love the smell of coffee, but the only kinds of coffee I actually like to drink are the yummy fattening kinds, so I gave them up a few months ago. It's usually not hard to give them up in the summer though, the true test will be when it starts getting chilly out! I may have to give in and indulge myself in a chocolate mint cappucino!

The difference between espresso and capuccino... 1 part espresso 1 part hot mild & 1 part froth! Plus some flavoring...
You can buy a little stove top espresso machine at your local Cost Plus, (sort of like Pier1) and a milk frother all for about $40.00! Some coffee shops sell the stuff too... If nothing else, Walmart Mr Coffee espresso machine $35.00 (make sure everything is kept tight and becareful of the steam!)
You can should have the coffee ground fine for espresso and buy sugar free flavoing syrups too but real chocoloate tastes best!
I love the glass beeker like milk frother that uses a pump like motion to whip a little fat free milk into a lot of foam to top your espresso with.
A great way to do it yourself!
I better go have my morning coffee! M&M flavored espresso! Gotta go to the store someday...

    I love coffee.

In the summer, I love iced coffee. I love iced blended coffees. We just got a Starbucks in my little backward town, and I'm hooked on the toasted coconut mocha frappuccinos.
    Yum.

I looooove cappuccino. I'm a coffee freak. I sometimes even make my own biscotti. I love the smell of brewing coffee, particularly a good, strong blend.

Starbucks coffee is WAY too strong for me. I don't want to have to wax my chest! I love a smooth blend of hazelnut coffee. I also like to have coffee with Bailey's if I'm out late. The casino bars serve it with whipped cream on the top and it is delicious!
