U.S. Senate Bills

  1. Kerry says he supports extending emergency federal unemployment benefits.
Tuesday, the U.S. Senate voted 59-40 in favor of the extension. But 60 votes were needed so it didn't pass and John Kerry was not there to vote on the Bill.

Also today on CSPAN watching the Senate vote on an Education Bill... Kerry was not present to vote because of campaigning.

Before anyone starts flaming, I have a question..

If a Senator is running for office and campaigning, is there not some way that they can vote on these important bills while still campaigning?

have to be present physically to vote
odds are if Kerry had been present
another Republican would have voted 'no'

    lucky Bush!
he is setting the record for campaign trips in office

Why are so many and not just Kerry missing so many votes, important votes on Education and Unemployment benefits. I think it's a legitimate question. Any suggestions or solutions? We elect these men and women to represent us and they are MIA.

    It puzzles me.

I guess I'm not the only person concerned about Kerry missing the important Education vote in the Senate last Tuesday. I heard today that some are calling for his resignation from the Senate.
