Troop Deployment..something up?

  1. Got a call from my niece a few days ago, my nephew-in-law is being deployed to Kuwait (Marines). Told them to be ready to go anytime within the next two weeks. They were due to move from NC to CA next week to begin his second four year term. She called back yesterday to say that when she went by her employer's to turn in her notice, she was told that five other girls she works with quit over the Xmas holiday's and moved back home because their husband's had also been deployed. Also deployed some to Africa.

You guys think we're about to make an offensive move??

Saber rattling at this point is my guess. There is a great deal of logistical support needed to launch an invasion of any country. This would be a preliminary step, but it does not commit us to an actual attach. Gary

I was positive that they were going to move until yesterday. From the deployments going on it looked like they planned on an attack since last summer. A report ask GW if war was inevitable. He said, "it is not inevitable till I say it is and I know more about what is going on than you". He seemed like he really meant it. Of course, I think they are in the midst of a buildup that is close to being at a point where they could go into Iraq anytime. However, like that reporter, I don't really know nuttin.

From family and friends in the military something is definately up. Saw a man who was in the former administration's defense program-retired now on TV. He showed exactly on the map where we will need to place our people in different phases to have the most affect against Saddam. The US military knows what it needs to do. Prayers going up for all men and women in the military. God keep them safe.

Well so far the government hasn't called many retirees back to active status. I'm a retired paratrooper and Special Ops instructor. I keep my fingers crossed that I don't get a call or notice. Retirees can be re-called up to ten years past their retirement date. I have a good job now as a nursing supervisor and would not like to loose it. Let's hope for the best.

That's why I jumped on the medical after 14 years. Had enough, don't want to go back.

Kids had a friend sent to Persian Gulf in July. Niece's husband on Kitty hawk, moving to Persian Gulf soon. Girl at church called up, going there today.
Scary. Could be ugly. Very ugly.

Hey guys! Here in Huntsville we have a lot of military and I was fortunate enough to have classes with some this past summer. At that point (July), many already had deployment orders stating "Persian Gulf" - or at least that was all they were allowed to tell.
