Tree time?

  1. Christmas Tree:

Do you like artificial or real live trees? or no tree at all?

When do you put it up and decorate?

Ours goes up the day after Thanksgiving.

Do you use the same theme every year? what is your theme?

    Thanks

My name is Leslie, and I'm a tree freak. <hi Leslie>

My tree went up last Wednesday (obviously artificial ) I was raised to be a tree freak, my mom put her's up last weekend...it's fun to get to enjoy all the work you do for the whole holiday season.

The thing is huge It's all done in red and gold, ornaments and beads, gold meshy-ribbon bows (not regular bows-you'd have to see them, they fill in the holes nicely ) white lights and a lit angel on top. Plus other ornaments I've accumulated over the years. It looks great. I've done the same the past couple Christmas' so hopefully I can buy some new stuff for next yr.

My cousin and her husband do their whole tree in Packers colors and ornaments and green lights...it's hilarious, but it is pretty cute :chuckle

    Hi Tree Freak Leslie:chuckle

I have a friend who is a "tree freak too".. she has a tree in every room !

NEAT... your tree sounds beautiful !

Last year I used pastel flowers, butterflies and bows, white lites. etc. I'm getting anxious to put it up earlier than usual. It's a slender very tall tree that goes in our great room. I think it's 9 ft. tall.

    Thanks !

I used to love decorating the tree..but something about Fla takes the fun out of it....just not the same....That and on the move from Buffalo to Fla the movers lost one box.......the Christmas decorations...all the antiques and family stuff...sigh. Oh wow is me.....

But my honey will be here in December...so we will have a tree....start our own traditions I guess...!

I have a nice white artificial tree. The color reminds me of snow, though Dallas is not going to have a white Christmas. Yesterday's temperature was in the upper 70's. I had to run the air conditioner after I arrived home from work. (The indoor temperature was at least 80 degrees.)

The tree gets set up some time around Thanksgiving, either shortly before or immediately after that holiday. My apartment has run out of space, so I might not be able to put up that tree any longer. I do not use any theme when decorating.

In December the local supermarket sells small potted trees. I usually buy one and place it near the kitchen area. It gets thrown out at the end of January. I tried to transplant one of these trees into a larger pot 2 years ago. Despite my best effort, that little tree died shortly afterward. All the money on enhanced potting soil, a large pot, and a shiny spade was wasted.

It has to be a real tree - my boys wouldn't speak to me otherwise! Some years it's been a real Charlie Brown tree, but it smells like a pine tree! The decorations are not themed or coordinated - just favorite ornaments of all kinds we've collected over the years and whichever strings of lights still light up after we manage to untangle them.

We have a real tree. This year I am considering a tree that gets planted after wards. I buy each of the kids (and me) an ornament or two every year, everything from handmade to Hallmark...when the kids leave to be on their own, they'll take their ornaments with them (and I can graduate to a smaller tree!).

Used to never even consider anything but a live tree. Now that the kids are older and they don't care I think we are going to go artificial this year. I'm sick of paying up to $40 bucks for a real tree. I'm getting real lazy too. would like to get one pre lit. I have no themes just ornaments that have been collected or given as gifts over the years including lots that my kids made when they were little.

Picking out a "live" tree when my kids were young was so much fun.. I love the smell of real pine trees.

I wonder if there are still ppl who go out to the woods and chop down their own tree.. like in the movie Nat'l Lampoons X-mas Vacation:chuckle

Baseline, FL Christmas trees can be soooo FUN!! Shells or flamingoes on white artificial trees, live trees with big gold magnolias and gold ribbon all over them---

head out to your local Michael's and get some ideas, because I have a blast thinking up new themes for the tree every year!

    Have fun with it!

We use to have an artifical tree when I was a kid because my brother was allergic to real ones. When he grew out of the allergy we started getting real ones. I love the smell of real ones. Every year as a child my parents would by us each an ornament. So I have this huge box of ornaments that finally this year get to go on my OWN christmas tree. Time to start making my own traditions.

My Mother lives with us and we switch off every other year. She likes a white artificial tree with either maroon or mauve ornaments. We like a real big fat bushy tree with traditional ornaments. It's our turn this year! Yeah! Avon came out with a pink Barbie Christmas tree that I am going to sneak in my daughter's room. It comes wiith little ornaments that are shoes, purses, etc. It is fiber optic and the tips change colors from pink to blue to re to green to gold. I can't wait to see it up!

The kids and I put up the artificial tree Thanksgiving night, usually they want colored lights and all the ornaments we have either made or collected from craft fairs over the years. I also put up a real tree, traditional, white lights, red and gold decorations. I have a 2 ft. fiber optic tree that goes in the dining room with candies and cookies on it also, plus a little 1 ft. tree in the bathroom. Now don't get me started on the outside, LOL
