Oh what fun! My married surname ranks #81 and is "very common", no surprises there. And my birth surname ranks #218 and is only "common".

Hmmm. I always thought it would have to be a pain to have a very common last name. How many times have you typed "Bob Smith" in the Diebold computer, and 60 names pop up? An invitation to an error of any kind. :stone

Mine is #926 and is still considered "common".

In my neck of the woods, smith and johnson are fairly uncommon! Garcia, Lopez and the like are MUCH more common!

Mine is apparently very rare, maybe that's why nobody ever spells it right.

very rare: popularity rank in the U.S.: #27722

OK, it is the spelling. The way most people spell it, it's fairly common

My last name isn't even showing up, no definition for it. It's not what would be considered common anyway. I doubt it would rank at all in popularity.

My first name ranks #105 and is considered common.

My maiden name, which I use professionally and is my legal last name, is within the top 75 in the U.S. My married name, which I use when I don't want to give out my real last name, is considered very rare, and ranks #54,002. It doesn't even give the prevalence. My first name is #52.

Married name is common (especially in my area!), #1216, 1 in 10000 families

My maiden name is considered rare, rank is #6314, 1 in 50000 families. I was 20 before I met anyone with that last name that I wasn't related to! I loved my maiden name and really considered not changing it after I got married.
