Too much sadness!

  1. I just wanted to whine to everyone for a little while. Sometimes it just seems that there is so much sadness in the world. I begin to wonder when the dark clouds will go away.

As everyone may or may not know, I lost my grandfather about 2 weeks ago.

I currently have a cousin in Iraq in the 101st Airborne division. I pray for his safe return everyday. This whole war in general has made me sad. Not that I am against it, I am just generally sad that the world has to come to this.

As if all of that wasn't enough, in the past week at the hospital where I work we have had the following things happen.

One of our PCT's had a 6 year old son who died of cancer. He had been battling this cancer for 2 years or so. Everyone is so sad. We are a small hospital. Sometimes it seems that everyone knows everyone else, so when something like this happens it effects everyone.

A few days later one of the House Directors (Supervisors) had to have a Total Mastectomy for Breast Ca. While she is recovering from this surgery, and awaiting the results of her Sentinal Node biopsy, she is also waiting on the interpretation of a bad chest Xray her husband recently had. Yes, they are susupecting the possibility of Lung CA.

Then I come back today after the weekend only to find out that one of our OB/Gyn residents was killed in a car accident just outside of Windsor, Ontario this weekend. He was on his way to see his nephew's hockeygame (or so I heard). According to what I was told, he drove off the road into a ravine. Who knows how long he was there when they found him. The entire hospital is in shock. Everyone really liked and respected him.

Perhaps it is because I am PMSing right now, but my heart is so heavy. It seems like there is a black cloud over this hospital. I thank you all for listening. I just really needed to whine and get it out.

Not whining, but grieving, trying in vain to make sense of the senseless. Numbed and overwhelmed by events over which you have no control. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, one day at a time. Hug your family, get some rest, remember to eat. <hugs> from me. -- D

My your plate is definitely full! I'm sooo sorry to hear about your grandfather, your cousin, and the distressing news of those around you.. I don't call relating what is going on around as being whinning. You need to get out somewhere, and have some down home, honest to goodness fun!

This is much too much sadness for anyone, or any place to concentrate on for any length of time. Take some time for yourself, and your love ones. I know that's a difficult thing to do, with everything that is going on. As I can totally relate with how you're feeling here.

I haven't had half the distrubing news you have, and I thought I was losing it this past week! For a min...I thought it was the menopaual thing wrecking havoc with my emotions. But I discovered I wasn't the only one.

But talking about how I was feeling, helped a lot. So if you need to PM, and talk some more...don't hesitate:kiss My prayers are added to yours for the safe return, of your cousin to your family soon, and in complete health.

Things seem to run in streaks like that. And ya wonder where ya get the courage or fortitude to deal with it all. God bless you and those around you. As someone once told me at one of those streaks in life "This too shall pass!" Take care of yourself!!!!!

I am sorry to read of the accumulation of bad things hitting you from all angles like this. You haven't had time to work through one tragedy when another hits. I am sending positive vibes and good thoughts your way. Hope things get better real soon. I don't think anyone considers it whining when you are just overwhelmed like this. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to offer my support.

When I go through times like that I just have to find my pleasure where it comes. The rabbi who wrote "When Bad Things Happen To Good People" taught me many years ago it's the simple things in life that bring us joy. Looking at life realistically and on a global scale can get to be too much sometimes, so I'll just play with my dog, sit under a palm tree with a mindless book, hug someone. Keep it simple.

    Take care.
