18yo son applied to 3 schools: 1 stretch: Lehigh, 1 desired: Drexel, 1 safe: Penn State school. Solid B student, with some A's and C in Spanish each year. Acceptance letter from Penn State comes first, son breaths sigh of relief that he is accepted. Second letter arrives four days later from Drexel ---- so excited got into computer engineering program he's nuts about.
Both schools now sending acceptance letters THAT LOOK LIKE COLLEGE DEGREEES, suitable for framing.
Drexel's is even on parchment paper with college seal and signature of president! The marketing is ridiculous!!! No wonder school is so expensive.
Also, if no one looked close, you'd think he had a college degree already!
On top of all this, 15yo took preliminary ACT's in 10th grade, checked off ok to send him college info. He scorred 95th percentile for reading. Just got application letters from 8 schools, including Drexel explaining high amt PHD programs. He's thinking about becoming a chef.
Stop sending out so much wasted paper. Can see that college recruitment is a BIG BUSINESS now. Gee, no wonder so much pressure. I'm just letting my sons be KIDS for a little while longer.
Just had to vent...with pride.
