Today is my last day.

  1. After 10 years at the same facility I have thrown in the towel and am going to try something else.
I have been the MDS coordinator at a LTC facility for the last 2 years and I just feel the need to do something new.
I will miss the staff and most of all my residents whom I love so much.
I'll be starting on Monday in home health. I'm not sure how I'm going to like it but the office folk are nice and full of great energy and high hopes and excited to have me on board.
They even joked about having a "biker nurse" saying "How cool is that?" hehehe
They are throwing me a potluck today and I will leave right after that. Should be a good day.

I hope you will like your new job. Hope the paperwork doesn't drown you. Our homehealth closed due to too much paperwork, too much money out. So now we have an outpatient clinic where people come in for dressing changes and IV's, etc.

The autonomy of home health sounds good to me.

I have three whole sleeping patients this morning. Been doing my ER course online and allnurses.

    Getting hungry though. . . . . wish I could go to a potluck.

    Have fun today!

Rusty - your patients are going to LOVE you . Your LTC's loss, I am sure, but it's important to keep challenging ourselves and move on when we don't feel our hearts are in our work. Best of luck on your new adventure!

Best of luck in yor new position! Change is a very good thing. I have always felt it was healthy to move on every 5 years or so. I admit I am a bit stagnant in my position and could benefit from a change myself.

I am hoping that having been the MDS coodinator, you must be very used to paperwork. Maybe that will ease the transition.
