To NURSES from President Bush

  1. I know this is not about terrorism, but wanted us to read the message from the President for National Nurses Week. Sorry, the signature won't print. Truly is is from the President. See the AJN journal or NurseWeek:

    March 18, 2003
I send Greetings to those celebrating National Nurses Week. Our Nation's health care system is a world-class model of skill and innovation, with a pace of discovery that is helping Americans to live better and longer lives. With these advances, the role of nurses continues to expand and remains critical to ensuring quality care in hospitals, nursing homes, patients' homes, and communities across our country.
I commend America's 2.7 million registered nurses for your continued commitment to excellence. Your hard work. dedication, and compassion help strengthen our Nation's health care and bring comfort and healing to countless individuals.
Laura joins me in sending our best wishes.

Best wishes are very nice, but it would have been much better to have had something to say about the nursing crisis, too!

So from me............to all the nurses who are continuing to take care of patients, despite the short staffing, long hours, and physical and emotional wear and tear.Despite the lack of concern by the corporations and management of the companies that employ us. You are not alone, and maybe there will be an improvement in the Healthcare business in the next year. Miracles do happen. I do love my job, like most of you do, one of the reasons we stay in this business. Best wishes to all of you.

    Mimi:

Most people including the President don't realize that the only reason for a hospital is NURSING.
All other care and services can be outpatient or hotel.

He also made another slip that I'd like to point out..
"registered nurses" are not the only nurses being celebrated this week!

I guess his PR person did a pretty good job of typing out this letter.

I won't pick this apart myself. I appreciate some recognition. I agree tho, a bit more money where the mouth is would be nice on all levels, including "at the top".
